Berkhampstead School is Independent Primary school in Gloucestershire for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Berkhampstead is a happy, non-selective school; they pride ourselves on the breadth of our curriculum and the nurturing and inclusive ethos. The talented specialist teachers deliver creative and imaginative lessons, fostering self-confidence and a genuine love of learning; the children achieve great success in a variety of subjects. The school is a positive and purposeful place where pupils get real pleasure from their day. There is an excited ‘buzz’ of enthusiastic learning and our excellent results encompass the academic, music and sport. The most important ‘result’ of a Berkhampstead education however, is the resilient, ‘can-do’ children who emerge at age 11 ready for their next challenge.
PREPARATORY
Children aged 7-11 are taught by our subject specialists in the Prep department. Inspired by creative teaching, they enjoy positive relationships with staff who have the expertise to stretch and challenge. The core curriculum – English, Maths and Science - is broadened and enriched by excellent teaching of Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, Critical Thinking, Music, Art, Drama, Citizenship and Well-Being, Computing, PE and Games.Critical Thinking lessons encourage a problem-solving approach; our children develop excellent reasoning skills and those who take the Grammar Schools Entrance Test do so with confidence. Children are thoroughly prepared for Independent Schools’ scholarship and entrance exams - they have an outstanding record of children entering the school of their choice.
PRE-PREPARATORY
The Pre-Prep is a warm and welcoming place where children aged 3-7 thrive and grow. Curiosity is nurtured, enthusiasms encouraged and confidence developed. 3-4 year olds start gently in our Kindergarten with a play-based curriculum that’s full of fun and that follows their interests. They take their first steps into the ‘can-do’ world of Berkhampstead education, experimenting and exploring, making decisions and learning by doing.
NURSERY
Lots of space - indoors and out! The specially designed Early Years playground has a fabulous climbing hill and space for sand and water play. The nature garden is a great area to explore and is a constant source of fascination to the children, particularly its pond and the wildlife it attracts.Using a fun, play-based learning approach, they ensure that the three Characteristics of Effective Learning specified in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are developed: Playing & Exploring, Active Learning and Creative and Critical Thinking.
