Buttercup Primary School is Independent Primary school in Tower Hamlets for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Buttercup Primary School was the result of a strong intention, dedication and hard work from a young mother who carried a vision of creating a safe and secure learning environment, that will consist of highly qualified members of staff who will pursue the goal of bringing up the next generation of young children with a good balanced teaching of both the National Curriculum and the Islamic Curriculum with high standards. The vision is to develop a Muslim generation capable of analytical and critical thinking who become Muslims by conviction and who will strive to fulfil their role positively and proudly in multicultural Britain alongside others. Our excellent facilities and resources develop enjoyment and pleasure in learning and promote the personal development of our pupils both spiritually and socially to become well-rounded individuals who are able to make a valuable contribution to Society.
Islamic Curriculum
At Buttercup Primary we believe the purpose of Islamic Studies is to mould a thinking, believing and practicing Muslim. It is not about rushing towards memorising the Quran or to learn how to speak Arabic, If a student leaves his or her formative years without developing the Eman and Taqwa needed for a healthy and happy life, then he or she will be stuck living solely for the life of the world. Every whim and fancy will tug their heart to and fro, and every success and achievement will ring hollow.
Able Children
Education in our school should provide for children of all abilities. Children deserve an education that encourages them and motivates them to achieve their full potential. The curriculum and organisation of the school must allow each pupil to learn at a pace that is appropriate for them. Opportunities must be offered to enable the more able pupils to develop fully their abilities within the context of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural framework of the school.
Genius Maths
Each topic of learning has its own subsection with only those relevant questions. For example, if you click on money, there will only be money based questions. Most questions have a YouTube link next to them. If you click on this link, it will take you to a small video clip explaining how to work out the question if you are stuck. Also, it is a great way of checking your answer.
Extra Curricular activities
The modern era brings us pressures, images, messages, desires and wants that divert our attention from what is important. Among the many medicines left to us by The Prophet Muhammed (saw) is to help us maintain clarity of vision and purpose is that of archery – a Sunnah with an illustrious past. The Prophet (saw)is known to have encouraged his companions to learn and practice archery. In fact there are many hadith in which he mentions archery as one of the sports men must teach their sons. It was this love of archery and love for the Sunnah of The Prophet (saw) that led to many of the successful victories by Muslim armies. This great art was later protected and perfected by the Ottomans within the Guild of Archers. Sultan Selim III still holds the record for the longest shot ever of 972 yards; a feat witnessed in 1798 by many dignitaries in attendance including Sir Robert Ainslie, from Great Britain. In 1835 Mahmud II, Selim’s nephew, with the intention of formalising and preserving archery commanded his courtier Mustafa Kani to set down in writing all available information about archery. He wanted this done, he announced, “so that under my royal patronage novices may acquire complete knowledge of the Sunnah of the Prophet, and by diligence come to possess the degrees of both worlds.” The result was “Abstracts and Treatise on Casting Arrows” printed in 1847. We have a lot to thank this far-sighted Sultan: today the Sheikhs of archery are no more and archery has all but become a forgotten Sunnah.
