Carleton House Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Liverpool for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed).
The school motto, ‘They can because they think they can’ reflects the aspirations and achievements of every child who comes to us. They are an inclusive Catholic school committed to the faith, welcoming all denominations of girls and boys aged 3-11. The most recent external ISI Educational Quality inspection judged both the acheivement of the pupils, including their academic development and the personal development of the pupils to be Excellent – the highest possible judgement. All regulatory requirements were fully met. They provide an education based on strong moral and personal values with Christ at the centre of all that they do. The mission statement, ‘We Live, Love and Learn with Jesus,’ is lived out through our daily interactions. Inclusivity enriches the school; the pupils grow in mutual understanding and respect. The talented and experienced staff work closely with the pupils and parents to ensure the highest quality provision as evidenced in the consistently outstanding results both in national examinations and entrance examinations. A rich academic and pastoral curriculum with a strong emphasis on creativity, independence and love of learning produces well rounded, articulate and confident young people who strive not only for their own benefit but for that of others.
The morning started by asking everybody to describe the school. They discussed the character, the unique make up and what the individual jobs are. They agreed that each of us multi-tasks – whether we are a teacher, support staff or parent. In fact, multitasking is second nature to all of them. They play many roles throughout the day, from teacher to peacemaker. With this in mind, the thoughts turned to the ethos of the school. The ethos, the practical ways in which they live out the mission statement, is one that is welcoming. The children are polite to their peers and visitors. The staff are equally welcoming, always available and happy to share information about our school with new and prospective parents. The mission statement ‘We live, love and learn with Jesus’ is at the centre of the work so it was important, as they reflected on what it meant, to think about what a mission statement is. Many of us have our own mottos and sayings that they use from day to day, so everybody was asked to write down their own. Responses were wide ranging, from ‘Be nice’ to ‘Treat others as you would like to be treated’.

School outings and excursions are carefully planned to ensure that they support the curriculum and will provide the girls with a safe, stimulating experience. Recent destinations include The British Museum, The National Gallery, The Roald Dahl Museum and Verulamium.
All children from Forms IV to VI take part in an annual Outdoor Education Trip. These include a variety of outdoor pursuits including caving, low ropes, orienteering, kayaking and team-building activities.
Form V spend three days in Suffolk and Form VI spend three days in Hampshire. In Suffolk, they stay in a magnificent Tudor barn and we are lucky enough to have the services of an ecologist who helps the girls to appreciate their surroundings through a variety of activities ranging from tree-hugging to bat-watching.
