Description

City of London Freemen's School is a co-educational independent school for day and boarding pupils from ages 7 to 18 years.

Facilities

  • The School works in partnership with Zeelo to offer a carbon neutral bus service to Freemen's.
  • The Haywood Centre provides an ideal base for the Senior School. It is a modern building incorporating well equipped classrooms, I.T. & multimedia rooms and the Library.
  • The School benefits from the professionally equipped Ferndale Theatre and an adjoining larger auditorium, the Senior Assembly Hall, as well as the recently purpose-built Music Recital Hall. Pupils have access to a number of musical rehearsal spaces, and individual tuition rooms.
  • There are modern laboratories and workshops in the Science & Technology Centre and well equipped studios in the Art & Design Centre.
  • In addition, the magnificent grounds provide ample space for high quality rugby, hockey and cricket pitches. There are two all-weather pitches, tennis courts, cricket nets and athletics facilities. They have a large, multi-purpose Sports Hall which incorporates a multi-activity fitness suite and two squash courts.

Fees

Registration Fee: £200 for all applicants.

Deposit:

Day: A £2,000 deposit is payable to confirm a pupil’s place. From the deposit, £500 will be offset against the first term's fees, with the remaining £1,500 being held by the School, without accrual of interest, until the final account is due. 

Boarders: They require a full term’s fees as deposit for boarding pupils. From the deposit, £5,000 will be held by the School, without accrual of interest, until the final account is due. The remainder will be offset against the first term’s fees.

School fees for academic year 2021-2022 are as follows:

Year 3 (7+) – Year 6 (10+) (Day only): £5,067 per term, exclusive of school lunches

Year 7 (11+) – Year 8 (12+) (Day only): £5,629 per term, exclusive of school lunches

Year 9 (13+) – Year 11 (15+):

  • Day: £6,965 per term, exclusive of school lunches
  • Weekly Boarder: £10,945 per term, inclusive of school lunches
  • Full Boarder: £12,121 per term, inclusive of school lunches

Year 12 (16+) - Year 13 (17+):

  • Day: £7,175 per term, exclusive of school lunches
  • Weekly Boarder: £11,155 per term, inclusive of school lunches
  • Full Boarder: £12,331 per term, inclusive of school lunches

Flexi / Ad Hoc Boarding:

  • Ad Hoc boarding is available to day pupils on request and is subject to availability.
  • £70 for 1 night Ad Hoc boarding

Additional Fees:

Year 3 (7+) – Year 4 (8+):

  • £246 per term for school lunches
  • £257 per term for music lessons
  • £39 per term for instrument hire

Year 5 (9+) – Year 13 (17+):

  • £274 per term for school lunches (lunches are included in the fees for boarding students)
  • £257 per term for music lessons
  • £39 per term for instrument hire

The cost of educational trips, public examination entry fees (GCSE, AS, A2 and Pre-U), English as an Additional Language, transport to School and other extras will be notified to you and added to your invoice in the relevant term.

Fees are payable on the first day of each term.

Scholarships

Freemen's Scholarships are awarded in recognition of excellence, achievement and potential in academic study or music. They carry considerable prestige for the award holder, but are of limited financial value. Academic and Music awards are offered on entry to Year 7 (11+), Year 9 (13+) and Year 12 (16+). They are available to both external candidates and to current Freemen's pupils. 

Academic Scholarships (up to a maximum 5% discount of the fees)

Music Scholarships (up to a maximum 5% discount of the fees, plus free tuition in one instrumental study) & Music Exhibitions (free tuition in one instrumental study)
