Facilities

  • They will build a safe and supportive environment where young people are empowered to change their lives. They will encourage and help each young person to develop a natural curiosity, persistence, grit and an appreciation of lifelong learning.
  • They will be good role models, who inspire with motivation and encourage young people to make a positive impact on other’s lives. They will strive to remove the barriers to success and fear of failure that young people may have developed.
  •  A culture of mutual respect and acceptance is woven into the fabric of our school. Empathy is a key part of developing into a responsible citizen at school and in the community. They will encourage mutual respect and empathy as a route to academic and career success because it helps people understand and work with others. They will create a learning environment that is peaceful, productive, and positive, where all teachers can teach, and all students can learn.
  • All staff are respectful, consistent and inspirational role models. Teachers deliver exciting, vibrant and well-pitched lessons in an optimistic and humorous style within a spiral curriculum. They are honest and able to deliver the hard messages whilst being flexible to meet the individual needs of students using praise and positive affirmation wisely to encourage and enthuse.

Admission Details

Connie Rothman Learning Trust offers a variety of provisions and activities. The day school is an alternative provision school for pupils aged 11-21 who would benefit from a placement away from a mainstream setting; who are disaffected with mainstream education. They specialise in helping students who want to learn but have had challenges related to ASD, anxiety, depression. They are not a behavioural unit. Students who pose a significant safety risk to others cannot be accepted. Students normally are admitted to Connie Rothman School by several routes, including students who are referred by the local authority, for example BCP Council and Dorset County Council, referred by a maintained school or Academy. Private applications will be considered for admission because of special needs when space is available. It includes an application form, collection of relevant data, and interview to assure that they can meet the student’s needs and that the student is happy with the provision.
