Pre Prep and Prep
The approach of Duke of Kent School Pre-prep and Prep is to excite, engage and promote a love of learning within our pupils. There is an emphasis on participation and effort, whereby we encourage each and every pupil to try their hardest across the breadth of the varied curriculum. They strive to develop confidence, provide opportunity and ignite imagination and creativity. In turn, we believe that this will enable each child’s achievements to flourish. They have an enthusiastic, creative and passionate staff team with a broad range of interests, talents and experience. Our excellent relationships with parents support the progress of the pupils in every area of their development.
Senior
Duke of Kent Senior School is the perfect setting for your child's journey from the end of childhood to the verge of adulthood. In the classroom, on the sports field, in the art studio or on the stage, all pupils can find opportunities to test their abilities and to find areas in which they can excel. We recognise the strengths and individuality of each of our pupils, harness their abilities, and allow them to flourish.
Educational Visits
They are passionate about learning beyond the classroom. As such, each year group visits places of interest throughout the academic year. This brings pupils’ learning to life and contextualises their knowledge in relation to the wider world that surrounds them. Overnight camping, day trips and weekends away all stimulate and inspire both pupils and staff. From a weekend away in the Isle of Wight through to making slime at the Winchester Science Museum, trips are a highly valued and enriching element of our Prep School experience.
After School Activities
On four evenings a week there is a programme of after school clubs which provide opportunities to develop skills and try new activities. These cover a range of areas and interests including sport, music, IT, drama and dance. Activities are changed termly and reflect the interests and enthusiasm of pupils and the staff running them.
Performing Arts
Music, Drama and Dance are at the very heart of our School life. We see confidence as the key to success and every pupil at Duke of Kent School is given many opportunities to become involved in our award-winning Performing Arts Department, in and beyond the classroom and on or behind the stage. They present a wide range of traditional and more modern performances. Specialist teachers take time, both in and out of lessons, to help pupils develop their skills and confidence, ensuring that they are ready to perform. Opportunities to play or sing, individually or as part of an ensemble, and to act or get involved behind the scenes, are available throughout the Senior School.
