English Martyrs Catholic Primary School is a State Primary school for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed). The school is a warm, welcoming, and inclusive place where individuals, both staff and pupils, are valued. Pupils’ behaviour is superb. They are self-motivated to be friendly, show good manners, and demonstrate high levels of self-discipline when not directly supervised by adults. The strong teaching of the Catholic faith is exceptionally well balanced with meaningful learning about other faiths and beliefs. This leads to a caring, tolerant atmosphere in school where everyone is valued for who they are and what they can do.The curriculum has been carefully thought out to ensure that it is relevant to the pupils in the school. The range of subjects and topics pupils study is comprehensive and well balanced. It is exceptionally well enhanced by trips, visitors to the school, assemblies, and links with the local community.
Curriculum: English Martyrs Catholic Primary School is committed to providing a high quality education. They believe that all children have a common entitlement to a broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. This includes children with medical needs or those who experience other barriers to learning. This may include learning difficulties, sensory or physical impairment and emotional or social development needs. They believe that all children should be equally valued in school. They strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can flourish and feel safe. This does not mean that we will treat all learners in the same way, but will respond to learners in ways which take account of their varied life experiences and needs.
Send: Children who have been identified as requiring SEND support have their progress reviewed each half term by their class teacher. Next steps in learning are then identified. They will then discuss how this can be achieved with both pupils and their parents or carers. In most cases this can be achieved through quality first teaching, but in some cases targeted support with the application of proven intervention may be required. These include direct phonics and language narrative. In some cases, external agencies (such as school and pupil support, speech and language therapy and educational psychology) will be called on for advice so that specialist support can be proved which is tailored to the needs of the child.
