Features

Things to note

  • The main school sports for the boys are rugby, football, hockey, basketball, cricket and athletics and for the girls hockey, netball, tennis, rounders and athletics. All these sports are delivered as part of the school day using our excellent facilities and coaches.
  • They have a lively tradition of music and drama. The theatre, The Barn, is used for plays, pantomimes, musical recitals and ad-hoc student productions, including the much-loved annual talent competition. At weekends, it becomes the Fyling Hall cinema showing the latest movies.
  • Music at Fyling Hall is a thriving, popular department where pupils are encouraged to take part in all music events, appreciate listening to music, and compose their own pieces reflecting their interests and lifestyle. A number of students who study music at Fyling Hall go on to study music at a higher level, and have even formed their own bands and perform in a number of venues locally. Across the school, pupils play a vast array of instruments and are able to share their work at the many concerts Fyling Hall hosts each term. Young musicians are respected across the school and act as ambassadors for the school at local and public events.
  • The art department at Fyling Hall is an integral part of the school, both for students and those with a passion for art. All pupils are encouraged to explore and cultivate their creative skills, and the art room itself is a friendly and welcoming place designed to inspire and encourage young artists. They strive to give students a love for art and the ability to express themselves through creativity.

Scholarships

Scholarships: These can be awarded where a pupil demonstrates an outstanding ability in one of the following areas: academia, sport, music, drama.  A scholarship can also be awarded to a pupil deemed to be an ‘all-rounder’. Scholarships will usually not amount to more than 10% of the fees due. Parents wishing to apply for a scholarship should contact the Headmaster.

Bursaries: Financial support may be available to families unable to afford the full fees. Parents wishing to apply for a bursary should write to the trustees via the headmaster outlining the reasons why financial support is necessary. It is possible, indeed not unusual, for a bursary holder to have a scholarship. In such circumstances, 10% of the fees would be covered by the scholarship.
