The River School

Gloverspiece is a school with a real difference. Based in rural Worcestershire it is an idyllic location to provide a unique educational experience. The aim is to help children with challenging needs take steps forward. The children’s goals are not like those in mainstream education – a big achievement might be a smile, engaging in conversation or developing confidence. And they do this with the help of furry friends – horses, pigs, chickens, cats, alpacas, raccoons and so much more. Caring for these animals is proven to help children with complex needs and conditions like autism.
They offer a unique learning environment based on the individual needs of your child. As you can imagine as a farm they have facilities for caring for animals in the fields/stables. Other therapeutic activities include music, yoga, forest school art and gardening. They also use the Muddy Puddles programme and are part of Nurture Schools UK. Recently they constructed a nurture classroom where all of the learners receive several nurture sessions a week. The Speech and Language therapists attend setting every fortnight providing a universal offer to all learners as well as targeted intervention for those with higher needs.
The school offers a continuous education from 4 -16 looking after the needs of those who are behind in their learning as well as challenging those that are gifted and talented. Although they have curriculum plans and do follow the national curriculum, they offer a fully supported and bespoke education to prepare your child for life. They will work with your child’s characteristics not against them! The secondary provision includes Preparation for Life courses.
Annual fees (day pupils): £30,000
