Description

Gorsey Bank Primary School is a state primary school for kids age 5 - 15 (Gender - Mixed)

The pupils are the most important consideration and they want school to be an enjoyable and exciting experience for them. School should be a place where pupils feel safe and secure, where they feel valued and cared for. It should also be a place where curiosity is nurtured, passions are fired and character is developed. These beliefs are central to the approach to learning and the development of every child.

Curriculum Statement
The Curriculum and the way in which they deliver it, instils a passion for learning in all the pupils and equips them for successful lives beyond the gates. They consider Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) and the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of the pupils to be a priority.Simply put, the Curriculum is intended to teach children the essential knowledge they need in all subject areas and to equip them for successful lives beyond the walls, opening doors to the future of their choice – whatever that may be!We believe that the National Curriculum gives children an excellent foundation for learning however the Curriculum goes way beyond this and represents the framework through which they impart the core body of knowledge that the children will need. The ambition is for all pupils to develop a full appreciation of the world in which they are growing up and to feel a sense of awe and wonder about the vastness of human creativity and achievement.

SEND
They believe that all pupils with a Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) must have their needs recognised and assessed so that appropriate and timely intervention can be put in place. They strive to deliver a curriculum that provides ambitious learning challenges to meet the diverse learning needs of all the pupils and they will do everything we can to remove any barriers to progress. The SEND Code of Practice (2014), states that all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they:achieve their best become confident individuals living fulfilling lives, make a successful transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training

Things to note

Enrichment
Four Curriculum Drivers underpin our Enrichment Curriculum: Collaboration, Possibilities, Respect and Technology. These Curriculum Drivers provide a framework for the aspects of our School Curriculum that go beyond the requirements of the statutory curriculum. Enrichment activities offer opportunities for all pupils to develop their cultural capital by providing opportunities they may not have had otherwise. Examples of Enrichment include Pupil Parliament, Forest School, Educational Visits and Extra-Curricular Clubs.

Kids Club
They will set your child up for the day with a healthy breakfast and provide an afternoon snack to keep them going until they get home. Whether it’s chilling out in the school library with a book, channelling their creative skills in yet another masterpiece or running off some energy outside, they will ensure that there is plenty on offer for your child whilst they are in the care. One thing’s for sure, our highly qualified staff will provide a range of activities that will make the time fly!Not only will your child have extra time to play with their classmates, they will have the chance to make new friends from different classes and year groups. Kids Club really is a ‘home from home’ for everyone who attends.
