Early Years Foundation Stage
Welcome to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the first steps of your child's learning journey at Lacey Green Primary Academy. Every child deserves the best possible start in their education and through parental and teacher support they can reach their potential. The EYFS year will lay the foundations to enable your child to become an independent and self-motivated learner throughout their whole school life.The Foundation Stage follows a unique curriculum that enables every child to have the best possible start in life. They understand that children develop from different starting points and will be working at different stages to one another in the early years and we believe that our curriculum celebrates this.Children develop quickly in the Early Years and they aim to capture their eagerness to learn in all areas of the curriculum. As well as following the new 'Eearly Years Foundation Stage Profile' Curriculum they use the new Development Matters Framework to support the planning and assessment on a regular basis. Therefore, all staff know the stage all individual children are working at and use assessment to facilitate and move learning on to enable the children to make progress.
SEND
At Lacey Green they are committed to welcoming all pupils. They follow the graduated approach to meeting special educational needs that requires the initial use of Quality First Teaching in the classroom, school interventions and resources before bringing specialist expertise to bear on the difficulties that a pupil is experiencing. When a young person is identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEN), school will intervene as described in the SEND Policy.We work closely with parents and children to ensure that we take into account the child’s own views and aspirations and the parents’ experience of, and hopes for, their child. This is integral to our approach. Parents are always invited to be involved at every stage of planning and reviewing SEN provision for their child.

After School Club / Breakfast Club
At Lacey Green Primary Academy we offer an After School Club that takes place each day in our main school building. The aim is to provide a variety of activities for children to enjoy in a safe and happy environment. Every day there is a choice of indoor and outdoor activities e.g. ball games, skipping, art and craft, iPads, homework time, reading, painting, board games, bikes/scooters, parachute games, etc. Children are also encouraged to make up their own games using their imagination. Special activities will also be arranged throughout the term, which include Cookery, Special Craft Sessions and Treasure Hunts. The After School Club staff, most of whom have other roles in school, know the children well and always aim to make their extended time in school happy and productive.
Extra Curricular Clubs
At Lacey Green, we believe it is important to embrace extra curricular activities for a variety of reasons. By taking part your child will build long-lasting friendships and connections, meet children from across the school and gain transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, problem solving and time management. It could also improve their confidence.
