Greenfield School is Independent Primary school in Surrey for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Greenfield School is not your average preparatory school, and they are very proud of it. The school has a rich history within Woking combined with a strong ethos, established by Headmistress Ruth Hicks, and this remains at the forefront of the school’s philosophy. At Greenfield, they welcome families into our school community, not just children, and they recognise that committing to the school is a huge financial commitment for parents. They understand that if you are considering an independent education for your children, it is because you want to give them opportunities. The incredibly broad curriculum offers opportunities for all and enables us to identify strengths in every child.Year-on-year, the impressive results prove the value of this holistic approach to education, and they are proud of the achievements of each of the leavers.
The Early Years
A child's experience at nursery and pre-school can influence their attitude towards learning with long-lasting effects. We often meet parents who say their child seems to have 'outgrown' their nursery and they are looking for more stimulation and opportunities to learn. Greenfield's Early Years Department offers children aged 3 and 4 years an introduction to education in an environment where playtime is always the order of the day! The children can learn without limits and take everything at their own pace, resulting in thoroughly satisfied little learners. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum they deliver at Greenfield is ambitious and carefully sequenced to help the children build on their learning over time. The Prime areas of learning lay the foundations for children's success in all other areas of learning and of life.Children from Fledglings to Robins will engage in activities that will encourage children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. They're a driving force behind helping children as they learn to form relationships, moderate emotions and thrive in their day-to-day life.
Lower School
The Pre-Prep department consists of Reception, Years 1 and 2. They welcome children in any year group and at any time of year, providing there is a place available for them. Most children, if they are not already in our Early Years Department, join us for the beginning of their Reception year and they offer plenty of opportunities for those children to spend time with the Robins class in the weeks and months before they start. This enables them to make friends and removes some of the apprehension associated with the first day of school.
Middle School
In Middle School, our main aim is to equip pupils with the intellectual qualities and skills that will help them to thrive in a changing world and allow them to seize future opportunities. They encourage collaboration, resilience, sound judgement and curiosity, and develop a healthy attitude towards risk.During Year 3 and Year 4, children at Greenfield benefit from increased specialist teaching and opportunities to make decisions about their own learning by taking part in lunchtime clubs or extending their learning through Take-Away Homework projects.
Upper School
Upper School is where you will find our most senior pupils, most of whom will be working towards senior school entry examinations and scholarship applications. We work hard to maintain a balance between preparation and ensuring our children remain relaxed, happy and able to put their best selves forward when they attend school visits and interviews. Senior School Heads often comment on the maturity of Greenfield pupils, which they attribute to the focus on the development of intellectual character as well as compassion, empathy and modesty. They believe that allowing children the freedom to explore a diverse curriculum helps to build effective and committed learners. Lessons are challenging, but this allows even our brightest pupils to work outside their comfort zone and develop a commitment to succeed.
Little School Nursery
Greenfield Little School offers 50 weeks of care to all children aged 6 months to 3 years. At the beginning of the term after which children turn three, children will join Robins class and may, if desired, switch to a term-time only provision.Robins (Orange and Red) are our pre-school classes for 3 and 4-year-olds and they are led by qualified Early Years Practitioners who follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. In these classes, we combine the convenience of a 50-week provision (for those who prefer a year-round arrangement) with the educational stimulation that many 3+ year olds are ready for.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
There is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities available for pupils in Reception through to Year 6. Some activities, such as Judo and Chess, enable pupils to build upon their skill level year on year and often compete in external competitions. Other clubs will change termly and allow pupils to participate in a project which will contribute to their wider social development. Clubs usually run from 3.40-4.30pm and occasionally from 4.30-5.20pm. They also have a variety of lunchtime clubs available.
