Description

Headstart School is situated on two beautiful rural sites both based in the East Sussex countryside. Both School sites have their own farm and vast areas of green fields. They have a range of animals including horses, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas,ducks and chickens. They have a small pet centre housing rabbits.The mini-farms are central to therapeutic approach to learning. They also house agricultural and horticultural areas where students enjoy growing produce and plants or studying the insects! They offer a broad range of vocational lessons alongside the more conventional areas of academic study.

Admission Details

Admissions to Headstart School are usually made through the SEND department of each child’s Local Authority.  We would encourage all families that are interested in a placement at Headstart to visit the school and look at the provision we offer. We work in partnership with our families and are able to explain in more detail what and how we teach when you visit. The school hosts tours for prospective parents on selected dates throughout the year.

Requirements for admissions are:

  • A primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
  • An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
  • An agreement from the Local Authority or another source to fund the placement.
  • Be of the appropriate age with the appropriate skills and behaviour profile to fill the available place.
  • Parents are required to be in agreement with the PBS approach and be willing to work co-operatively with the school

Fees

Annual fees (day pupils): £30,000 to £60,000
