Hillcrest School and Sixth Form Centre is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Girls)

Hillcrest is an 11-16 girls’ school with a mixed sixth form located on an extensive green field site in south west Birmingham. At Hillcrest, we provide each student with the opportunity to achieve their full potential in both academic and social terms. They hope within these pages you will discover something of how they combine the best of traditional values with the very latest in teaching methods and technologies to inspire our students to succeed in everything they do. They have very high expectations of the students, and great emphasis is placed on self-discipline; self-respect; hard work; achievement and high standards of behaviour. They have a highly qualified team of staff committed to delivering quality education to all of the students. Your child will enter a safe and secure environment in which high-quality learning can take place effectively. Curriculum Overview
The curriculum at Hillcrest is designed to enable all students to enjoy their learning and achieve their full academic and social potential. We aim to provide all students with the knowledge, skills and relevant qualifications to enable them to be ready to successfully access the next stage of their education. The curriculum aims to develop effective independent learners who have a passion for learning and an understanding of the power of knowledge. They seek to develop students who are prepared for the challenges of life. At all key stages’ students are well prepared to fully engage in an ever-changing world, to understand and respect fundamental British values and make informed decisions. All students have access to a broad and balanced core curriculum, as well as a range of wider learning, spiritual, moral, social, cultural, personal and physical development opportunities and careers education. Students are supported by a team of well qualified, specialist teaching staff.

Things to note

Extra-Curricular Activities
Activities during the lunch hour, before or after school are an important part of life at Hillcrest. They encourage students to pursue their interests and help them make friends in other forms or year groups. Each student is issued with a grid of activities that they can attend every term. Excursions are organised by various departments around the school. Students have visited the USA, Paris, Boulogne, and Wales along with more local visits to Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, London, Stratford, and Chester. The Performing Arts department also runs residential and day course to Blackwell Court (Outward Bound Activity centre) and Kingsbury water sports centre.
