Key Stage 3
Years 7 – 9, At Key Stage 3 we offer students a diverse curriculum upon which they can confidently build their knowledge, skills and understanding at Key Stage 4. Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught as separate sciences, in order to fully immerse students in the subjects from the start of Key Stage 3. Students begin their time with us in Year 7 by studying one Modern Foreign Language from French, German or Spanish, and in Year 8 students pick up a second until the end of Key Stage 3. All students also study Latin throughout the entire Key Stage.
Key Stage 4
Years 10 and 11, In KS4, we aim to support students in achieving their potential at GCSE and encourage them in becoming responsible citizens as they consider their future role in society. At Key Stage 4, all students are required to study all of the core GCSE subjects as well as choosing a further three optional GCSE subjects. Non-examined PSHE lessons are taught once per week by the Head of Year, and all students take part in Whole Year Games.
Key Stage 5
Years 12 and 13, A diverse range of A Level subjects are offered in the Sixth Form, allowing our students considerable choice. We ask all students to study four A Level subjects from the start of Year 12, the majority of whom decide to drop one subject at the end of Year 12 and have the opportunity to take an AS qualification in that subject, being left with three A Level subjects in Year 13. This system provides our students with the flexibility to change their minds – in many cases the subject they expect to drop at the end of Year 12, is one they choose to continue studying!
Sixth Form
The Sixth Form is the driving force of the whole school community through its House system. The system requires leadership from you and so it provides you with leadership opportunities. The House system, the prefect system, they both keep the channels of communication open between staff and Sixth Form. There are other opportunities for this via clubs, societies and student council.
Extra Curricular
There are weekly activities for the Summer Term. Others may be added. Look out for up-dates. Occasional activities and competitions also run so listen for notices in assembly or watch the plasma screen. Suggestions for further activities can be raised at School Council. We do our best to cater for a wide range of interests but you will understand that something like lunch-time mountain climbing, ice skating or paragliding would not be possible!
Special Educational Needs
Camp Hill is an inclusive school. We believe that all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, must have their needs addressed and that they should have the greatest possible access to a broad and balanced education. It is important to consider the views of children and that their opinions will be taken into account. Furthermore, we understand the vital role that parents have in supporting their children’s education and actively seek to foster good home-school liaison.
