Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
At Holy Trinity C of E Primary, we feel the Foundation Stage year is crucial in preparing children for the rest of their formal schooling lives. The Early Years framework, which was made effective in September 2014, sets out seven Areas of Learning and Development. These are broken into two main areas; Prime and Specific. The prime areas are particularly important for sparking curiosity, building a child’s enthusiasm and ability to learn, and in helping to form relationships. These are Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. The specific areas are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design, all of which are individually important but also help to develop and apply the prime areas.
Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
At Holy Trinity they have a whole-school approach to meeting the educational needs of the pupils and above all, they value the importance of meeting the individual and diverse needs of all children within the school. They recognise that some of our children will need special provision during their time in school, and this type of provision will vary from child to child according to their needs. They are fully committed in involving parents and carers to identify the needs of their child and wholly encourage them to play an active part in supporting their child’s development.
School Educational Visits
During the course of an academic year the children have many opportunities to take part in educational day visits, residential trips and sporting activities including regular trips to the local leisure centre to partake in swimming lessons. The school places a high value on such trips. At the beginning of the school year you will be requested to complete an OA4 form which grants permission for your child to attend any Holy Trinity Church Service during the school day and to participate in local visits in and around Cookham. All other trips and visits will be detailed in a letter and will include a parent/carer permission slip which must be signed and returned to the school office in order for your child to participate. These activities are funded by voluntary contributions and cannot go ahead without them. There is no obligation to contribute and all children will be able to participate regardless of whether their parents are able to pay for the learning experience. However, if contributions are insufficient to meet the costs, the activity may have to be cancelled.
