Hope House School is a small independent special school which is a charity that educates and supports young people of all ages who have an autism spectrum disorder and associated conditions. The aim is to provide a caring and calm environment where everyone feels valued, secure and able to learn. They are set in open countryside just outside Newark in Nottinghamshire, and have places for 28 pupils on roll. They take young people from the midlands areas of Rutland, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Derby City. Consultation with the school is via local authority SEND departments and caseworkers.The school provides a bespoke individualised offer for each young person that fits with their EHCP and needs.
Curriculum
They align the curriculum to the current national curriculum, with adaptations based on the needs of our young people. The older young people can access accredited qualifications such as ASDAN and Functional Skills in subjects such as English and Mathematics. Each young person has an individual learning pathway that includes an element of choice that can be tailored to their own needs and interests, thus ensuring that they can achieve the most out from their education.
Integrated Therapeutic Approach
Hope House School is committed to providing a holistic approach to nurture, learning and development for children and young people with autism. For some children and young people there is an element of sensory over- or under-stimulation that can impact on daily life. Young people are regularly assessed using Autism Progression Tracker which helps to guide the development of support strategies and therapies. It plots the impact of autism has on functioning and provides strategies for reducing the negative effects.

Hope House School is an independent specialist school for children who have an Education Care and Health Plan, with a primary diagnosis of Autism. It has been registered since August 2007 with the Department for Education to accept up to 28 pupils between the ages of 5-19.The school provides an education for young people who require autism specific provision as their primary need, tailored to meet the pupil’s social, sensory and communication needs, as well as providing support to enable them to manage their levels of anxiety. They have pupils from Nottinghamshire and the surrounding areas of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, and Derby City who travel daily to attend the school. They ensure we work closely with the partnership local authorities and meet our duty within the Equalities Act 2010.
