Witham Prospect School is a newly established care and education facility which has been created to meet the needs of children aged between 11 and 19 who have severe and profound learning disabilities and whom may also be on the autism spectrum and have complex care needs.

Facilities

  • Situated within 12 acres of grounds on the outskirts of Norton Disney in Lincolnshire. The school is built around a quadrangle with living accommodation, classrooms and sensory rooms.
  • The school has places for up to 16 residential places and 6 day places for children or young people within the children’s home and educational setting. Within their circle of expertise, the directors of the school can call upon experience in successfully running residential special schools, early years’ education provisions, younger adult residential care homes and home care services specifically for people  with severe and profound disabilities, autism spectrum and other complex care needs.

Alongside the highly-trained care team and the fully qualified teachers will be professionals who can deliver aromatherapy, music therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, equine therapy and psychological input.

Admission Details

REFERRALS: Referrals will be made by Social Services or your Local Education Department. If there is also a health need or if your local health service recognises behaviour as a health need they may also make referrals.The fees to attend the school will be met by one or a combination of these services. Initial enquiries can be made by telephone, letter or email. Parents can recommend the school to any or all of these services and request a visit.

CRITERIA: The criteria for admission is as follows: Children and young people should be aged between 11 and 16 years of age. In exceptional circumstances pupils may also be placed at the school between the ages of 16 and 18, especially if the intention is to work towards transition to adult services. All pupils can remain at the school until they are 19. All children and young people will have a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Education and Health Care plan (EHC plan) indicating a severe educational need. Children and young people should have complex learning difficulties which can include an autistic spectrum diagnosis and complex care needs including challenging behaviour. Children and young people referred to the school should have their places funded by a UK authority.
