Description

Hurworth House School provides specialist education for boys and girls with SEMH difficulties and autism. The staff are highly trained, skilled and experienced in supporting and educating our children, many of whom have a co-morbid diagnosis. The school is registered to provide education to up to 80 students aged between 5 and 19 years. They have a discrete primary provision and separate middle and upper schools.

Admission Details

Hurworth House School provides education and care for up to 80 males and females aged 5 to 19 years. They have specialist experience is supporting young people with SEMH and behavioural difficulties, more specifically including:

  • Children with histories of abuse and trauma
  • ADD
  • ADHD
  • Attachment disorders
  • Autism and Asperger Syndrome
  • Complex needs
  • Conduct disorders
  • Neglect
  • Obsessive compulsive behaviours
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Pathological Demand Avoidance
  • Foetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder
  • Diagnosed mental health conditions

They accept local and national referrals, in collaboration with a number of local and national authorities, and work with some of the most vulnerable young people.

The admissions process: After receiving a referral, the school will carry out an assessment of the young person based on information received and offer a visit to the school for each young person and their family/carers. This ensures they fully understand and are able to meet the young person’s needs whilst confirming that setting is right for the young person. After making an offer, the school’s education and care staff work closely with the young person, their parents / carers and any external agencies involved to create a flexible package that will fully support the young person. A transition will be arranged which will meet the needs of the young person and ensure a successful placement in the school.
