Yarm Preparatory School is Independent Primary school in Stockton-on-Tees for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Since Yarm School’s foundation in 1978 it has become one of the best schools in the North East. Our academic results and facilities are outstanding but they offer so much more than an excellent academic education: they firmly believe in educating for life.As well as offering pupils the opportunity to reach their academic potential and achieve excellent results in public examinations, we aim to nurture and encourage values that ensure our pupils become adults who will contribute positively to society. They develop the attributes and skills sought by employers and equip pupils for life beyond school. They hone these skills within a caring, friendly and mutually supportive community. The pastoral care programme also ensures that pupils are known as individuals and supported at each step of their journey through the School.
Prep (3-11)
They believe that happy children flourish at school. They therefore prioritise every child’s wellbeing and sense of belonging to our community for every step of their education here at Yarm Prep School. The School Values provide the framework for every child to lead a positive and fulfilling school life whilst nurturing the skills, attitudes and characteristics that will help them thrive in school and beyond. Whether they’re in Nursery, Pre-Prep, or Preparatory, pupils are taught to be ambitious and seize opportunities whilst not being afraid of getting things wrong. They also learn how to be resourceful through collaboration and are encouraged to be relentlessly curious.
Senior (11-16)
Yarm Senior School aims to provide an environment where pupils can enjoy learning, experience a broad range of activities together and discover their full potential both in the classroom and beyond. We quickly get to know pupils as individuals, encouraging their personal development through the supportive ethos, pastoral care and extensive extra-curricular programme. Pupils are mutually respectful of each other and are supported and encouraged by the highly qualified and dedicated teaching staff.
Sixth Form (16-18)
Yarm Sixth Form blends grammar school traditions with the forward thinking and pioneering spirit of those who founded the school in the late 1970s. The students consistently achieve exceptional A Level results and are supported to flourish as young adults beyond the Sixth Form. All of this is possible in a well-structured and supportive environment. In short: educating for life. Our Sixth Form is open to boys and girls from around the North East of England. Whilst the majority of the Fifth Year (Year 11) pupils continue into our Sixth Form, they have an additional quarter of pupils join them from other schools in North Yorkshire and County Durham.
Extra-curricular
A pupil’s education should be a broad and varied experience. They encourage pupils to step outside their comfort zone and take risks in a safe and supportive environment, discovering new talents and interests which provide much happiness at school and, critically, develop their self-confidence, problem solving abilities and interpersonal skills. For example, each pupil has timetabled Activity Lessons where they can choose from a wide variety of activities, ranging from calligraphy to watersports.
