4-13 Years

Description

Keble Preparatory School is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 4 to 13 (Gender - 4 to 13 )

They are immensely proud of our school and our boys:  they are our greatest ambassadors. Keblians are respectful, responsible, hard-working, fun-loving and well-rounded children, who thrive in a school which inspires and supports them to discover their strengths, take risks in their learning and challenge themselves. At Keble, we encourage each boy to think independently, to be continuously inquisitive and reflective. We value each individual pupil, helping them to uncover and nurture their talents, whilst celebrating their achievements. As a result, our boys move on to their senior schools with the confidence and self-belief to build upon their own strengths and continue to enjoy success both academically and in other pursuits.

Facilities

Reception
The Early Years Team at Keble Prep aims to provide a stimulating, active and enthusiastic approach to the boys’ learning, through the use of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Strong Personal, Social and Emotional Development is embedded in everything we do in Reception as we believe that each boy can only thrive when he feels secure and happy; each boy’s well-being is at the heart of our teaching methods.

Junior School
Continuing on from Reception the Junior School offers all boys the opportunity to flourish and progress. From  the very beginning of life in Year 1, we are looking ahead to what the boys will become when they leave us in Year 8. Boys are expected to develop ownership of their learning and development through the high expectations that we have. Key to this is the strong focus on teaching, learning and feedback. Boys have opportunities in every Year Group to develop their skills in all academic areas.

Senior School
As the boys enter Y5 the school operates like a secondary school for all subject areas, with boys moving from class to class, being taught by subject specialists. The boys in Y5 to 8 are in forms for registration at the beginning of the day – the expectation is that all boys will be in their rooms from 8.15 and by 8.30 at the latest. Boys are allocated a locker in the form room where they can keep their folders and organise all their equipment.

Year 7 & 8
As a school, Keble is strongly committed to its 13+ tradition. A tradition that values a broad curriculum, both inside and outside the classroom. The boys staying on in Years 7 & 8 make an active contribution towards the school, gaining new skills as they act as role models for the younger boys.

Features

Things to note

Extra Curricular
After a very busy day at school we feel that the youngest boys should head home at the end of the day and have time to unwind and relax. In the middle years the extra curricular programme kicks in with activities that vary from term to term, but typically include things like Chess, Football and Arts and Crafts. In the Senior years this provision is extended and we may often go off site to broaden the range for example, a cross country club taking advantage of suitable local amenities.

Sports
In the Keble Prep Physical Education and Games Department we have a strong commitment to inclusion and ensuring that all boys benefit positively from their experience in sport. Pupils experience a diverse curriculum, offering opportunities for both team and individual sports. The vision of the department is firmly embedded in the idea of every pupil being provided the opportunity to reach their potential, and develop at a pace which suits the individual.

Remote Learning
All pupils continue to be registered each morning by form and class teachers via Live Meets. This is an important time to allow teachers and boys to maintain communication. Form teachers in the senior school can pass on messages from subject teachers and check on the welfare of the boys.Reception and Y1 this week moved over to Google Classroom. They still have access to Seesaw but moving to Classroom has enabled the teachers to record longer and more detailed lessons, and to add more resources for the boys and parents.
