King Edward's School Witley is an independent, day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18.

Facilities

  • The central hub of sports activity is the bustling, busy, Sports Complex which is home to Sports Department’s main office and where enthusiastic Sports staff are often to be found refereeing basketball games or badminton matches in indoor sports hall, manning fitness suite and weights room, or coaching swimmers to the top of the leader board in swimming galas, recently refurbished, 25m swimming pool. 
  • Just outside Sports Complex are new six hard courts, set in the heart of the King Edward’s rural, green, campus and with the stunning backdrop of Lower School House QMH in the distance. 
  • As you exit the Sports Complex walk past a water tower, towards astro turf pitches.

  • Full-boarding ethos ensures there is ample choice for boys and girls to enjoy a whole variety of sports.  
  • Music flourishes outside the classroom with some twenty choirs, orchestras and specialist instrumental ensembles from Chamber Music to Rock Bands. 
  • They run at least twelve theatre trips a year and present six productions that are open for audiences to enjoy.  
  • The Art Department boasts spacious rooms full of light, a ceramics room, printmaking studio, photography darkroom, library and ICT resource room, and takes the opportunity throughout the seasons for outdoor inspiration in the School’s 100 acres of woodland and landscaped grounds. 
  • There are over fifty co-curricular clubs and societies throughout the year, with some reinforcing and extending classroom learning whilst others offer new experiences and challenges.

Admission Details

Entry at Year 7 (11+): You may register your child at any time following your initial enquiry. However, they recommend the ideal time to be one year prior to entry. They ask that you register your child by 1st November prior to the year of entry. All registered pupils are automatically invited to sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test which may take place at your child’s current school (date chosen by the school) or at King Edward’s in the December prior to the year of entry. For 11+ entry in 2023 they will hold the test at King Edward’s in December 2022. The test includes Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics. Prior to testing, your child’s current school is contacted to request a report on their progress and potential. Places are offered on the basis of the test results, the school report and the informal interview. For 11+ entry in 2023 the deadline is 1st November 2022. Deadline for Scholarships is 1st November 2022.

Entry at Year 9 (13+): For the Pre-Testing option, you may register your child at any time following your initial enquiry. However, they recommend at least three years prior to entry as they pre-test candidates two and a half years prior to entry (in Year 6). For the Pre-Testing option, the ISEB Pre-Test is usually taken at your child’s current school between November and January in Year 6. Prior to testing, your child’s current school is contacted to request a report on their progress and potential. Pre-Tested places are offered on the basis of the test results, an informal interview and the School report. Children are still required to sit Common Entrance. For 13+ entry in 2025 the deadline is 1st November 2022.For the Standard Entry option, pupils will sit the King Edward’s entrance test in the December prior to the year of entry. This can be sat at the pupil’s school or at King Edward’s if this is not possible, the test will be in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning. For 13+ entry in 2023 the deadline is 1st November 2022. Deadline for Scholarships is 1st November 2022.

Entry at Sixth Form (16+): Acceptance into the Sixth Form is conditional upon applicant’s meeting the entrance requirements of the School. For those taking GCSE or IGCSE, the expectation is for a minimum of six 9-4 grades (equivalent to A* – C in old grading system) including Mathematics and English, preferably with at least a grade 7 in the subjects to be studied at A-level or Higher Level in the IB. Under normal circumstances a place will be offered following an interview and the receipt of a satisfactory report from the Head of the applicant’s present school.

Scholarships

Bursarial assistance (provided by the School’s Foundation and the City of London, usually to a maximum of 50% of the fees) is offered to families where boarding or the King Edward’s style of education is a particular need. Applicants must satisfy the normal academic criteria for entry. Examples of qualifying circumstances usually include some form of trauma in the family such as the loss of a parent, where one or both parents are seriously ill or where there is a chronically ill or disabled sibling demanding much attention and time, with the result that the parent is unable to devote enough time to the child’s needs. The children of clergy, missionaries and other special circumstances may also be considered.
