The three aspects of the computing curriculum include Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy with a particular focus on E-safety.

Early Years
The objective of the teaching offered is to master skills in both languages by taking advantage of the qualities and specificities of two systems. The different teaching approaches and methods of our teachers allow the pupils to develop the adaptive and open-minded capacities necessary to approach the world of tomorrow.Pupils are taught in French and in English, thanks to two teachers, one of whom is French speaking while the other is English speaking, and who work in close partnership in accordance with a specifically adapted calendar and curriculum. The programme for Moyenne Section (Reception) and Grande Section (Year 1) is oral based, taking into consideration the relevant communication and language skills from the Early Years Foundation Stage and from the French National Curriculum.

Features

Things to note

Library
A very popular room! The library is open every day to all pupils and teachers; it houses around 9000 fiction and non-fiction books in English and French. They also have many audio resources and magazines for children and teachers. The librarian and her assistant receive all classes for weekly workshops on different literary topics (such as poetry writing sessions, reading challenges…) Every day pupils can enjoy a quiet time to read or borrow books during the lunch playground time.

Learning Support
L’Ecole de Battersea is a non-selective school which welcomes pupils from different cultural, linguistic or academic backgrounds. We celebrate and respect differences and pupils with specific needs are valued in the same way as any other child. They assist pupils in many different ways including developing reading comprehension and spelling skills, personal organisation and social skills… Support is given within the class and/or in one to one sessions or small groups by member of staff working closely with the form teacher.

Drama and Assembly
CM2/Year 6 produce a Shakespeare play every year, scripted and adapted by the Drama team in both English and French, awaited with much anticipation by pupils and parents alike. Real fun and great confidence building!Assemblies are held on Friday mornings. Pupils form Petite Section (Nursery) to CM2 (Year 6) present a topic they would like to share in front of their peers. They cannot emphasise strongly enough the importance of children from an early age gaining the confidence to stand up in front of an audience and perform. This helps their self-esteem and their ability to compete, lead and to participate later on in life.
