Leventhorpe School is a mixed, 11-19 secondary school and sixth form in the town of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.
Facilities
The Drama Studio is well equipped in terms of lighting and sound facilities and so students are also encouraged to involve themselves in the technical aspects of theatre whenever possible.
The School’s facilities are arguably the best in the East of Hertfordshire with access to a new £5.5 million Sports Centre which includes a sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, all-weather astro-turf , five acres of sports fields and tennis courts.
In addition to the traditional art skills, the department has the facilities and staff expertise which enable students to work in a broad range of media. They provide opportunities to develop skills in ceramics and 3D work in addition to darkroom and digital photography, printmaking, screen printing and photographic screen printing. They have a Mac suite for use with A level photography and art students across the age ranges.
The visual Art Department believes arts education has a vital role to play in the development of every student in school and should enable the individual to recognise its importance both as a form of communication and as a means to express ideas and emotions.
Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the work in the Department and involve a lower school club, evening performances, in-house workshops and theatre visits.
Physical Education and sport plays a central role in the life of Leventhorpe. The dedicated team of eight experienced professionals ensures that there are opportunities for everyone to gain an understanding of the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle and, more importantly, to find an enjoyable way in which to do so. The goal is to provide students with enjoyable experiences that will motivate them to engage in activities that they enjoy for the rest of their lives.
