Facilities

Early Years
Little Lyndhurst incorporates Pre-Reception and Reception classes under the one roof. The setting is thus able to deliver all your child’s Foundation Stage requirements maintaining constant, close liaison between the two classes, ensuring a smooth transition into formal education.Little Lyndhurst is a friendly, vibrant and family orientated setting forming an integral part of the whole school. Both classes are led by experienced and fully qualified teachers supported by experienced teaching assistants. We are able to provide excellent staff to child ratios and small class sizes which enable us to really get to know your child, their needs and individual personalities. All children receive specialist teaching in Sport, Dance, Music and French as part of their timetable.

Pre-Reception
Pre-Reception is a happy, warm and welcoming place. We aim to provide a sensitive learning environment that meets the needs of every child. The plentiful outside space offers many opportunities for outside learning, exploration and play to take place. Our activities are fun, engaging, promoting confidence and independence.

Reception
Housed in the same purpose-built building as Pre-Reception, the Reception classroom and outside areas allow the children to continue to develop and grow through the principals of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  The class teacher and a full-time teaching assistant provide an imaginative and engaging curriculum, based on well-planned play led opportunities and stimulating adult-led activities. We encourage outdoor exploration, nature based activities and exercise as part of our everyday.

Prep School
At Lyndhurst they believe in traditional values delivered through a modern approach.  By nurturing and developing each individual we provide a solid foundation for future education and for life.They provide a truly balanced curriculum with many opportunities for sports, music and the arts. The friendly environment based around respect creates a supportive and happy place to learn and develop.

Clubs and After School Care
The aim, at Lyndhurst, is to nurture well-rounded, confident young people; with this in mind we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities in addition to our broad and balanced curriculum. Your child can have extra graded music lessons; we currently offer piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder, singing and violin. We also offer graded ballet lessons.In addition to our individual and small group classes we offer a variety of after school clubs which cater to all the children’s interests from active pursuits, such as judo and 5-a-side football, through the arts such as dance and musical theatre, creative clubs like art and needlecraft or activities for the more cerebrally minded – chess and philosophy!

Sport
At Lyndhurst School every child is encouraged to participate in a wide range of team and individual sports in both Physical Education and Games lessons. All children are given the opportunity to develop their skills whilst becoming confident and proficient in a variety of sports. Our sporting programme is designed to foster physical awareness, mental well-being, respect, sportsmanship, fair play, an understanding of getting out of life what you put in, as well as learning to win and lose with grace. The importance of having fun and team work is essential at Lyndhurst, all pupils, regardless of their ability will represent their school in many different events throughout their journey.

Music, Art & Drama
Music is taught weekly, by a specialist teacher, to every year group throughout the school at Lyndhurst. In the Early Years, the focus is on participation in singing and movement as well as developing musical expression and listening skills using percussion instruments. As the children move up the school their musical awareness is broadened with an introduction to a wider variety of musical instruments and genres, including music from different historical eras and cultures.
