Medway Green School is Independent Secondary school in Not recorded for kids aged 5 to 14 (Gender - 5 to 14 )
Located in the village of Wouldham in Kent, the site has recently benefited from significant development, with the traditional Victorian school house and modern classroom block having been refurbished to the highest specifications. Everything about the school – from the high quality design of our environment to the professionalism and passion of the team – is about putting the needs of our students first and giving them the very best start in life. The students come to us with a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs, including autistic spectrum conditions, and the environment has been carefully designed to meet their individual learning requirements while ensuring they also feel safe, secure and cared for. Each child is different so they offer a variety of learning environments, from modern, high specification classrooms through to spaces dedicated to one-to-one interaction, specially designed therapy spaces, and sensory areas that can help students feel calm and safe. The superb indoor facilities are complemented by plenty of outdoor space, giving our students the opportunity to learn, discover and explore in the open air. Outdoor learning opportunities form part of the curriculum, and the school enables them to take place in spaces designed specifically for this purpose.
Education Provision
Education at Medway Green begins with a belief in the importance of building trust between individual students and the wider school community. The small classes help these relationships to be established and to develop, with up to eight students per class along with at least one teacher and one teaching assistant. These adult role models are with the children for the majority of each day. The school environment has been carefully designed to cater for students with a range of special needs, including those with autistic spectrum conditions who benefit from highly structured learning in spaces tailored to their requirements. The site, with its generous provision of outdoor space, also enables us to offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning whenever this is appropriate to individual needs. Many students are also inspired by educational visits beyond the school environment, so they build these visits into the curriculum, helping to stimulate their imaginations and nurture their fascination with the wider world.
Therapy and Welfare
They help students who are in need of therapy sessions or welfare support in a variety of ways, from emotional and mental health first-aid through to ongoing programmes as required. With highly skilled teaching and support staff available within school, along with access to external specialists such as educational psychologists and trained therapists, they are able to give each student the specific support they need.Speech and language therapies are available to develop students’ communication and social skills, and trained counsellors can help students address issues in their lives as they arise. Each student also benefits from having key members of our team who are dedicated to giving them advice and guidance, mentoring them, inspiring them and ensuring that frequent communication between school and home is maintained.
