The children at St. Andrew’s School benefit from an inspiring and enjoyable learning experience enriched by a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, an enthusiastic and dedicated staff team and a strong supportive partnership with parents.
Pre School
The nursery class is for the youngest pupils, the 2-3 year olds, where we offer morning and afternoon sessions, as well as a full day. For the Pre-Reception classes, the 3-4 year olds, we offer full days 08.30-15.30. If you require an earlier start or later finish, we offer a Breakfast Club from 07.30-08.30 and After School Clubs until 17.30, providing the wraparound care you might need.
Infant Classes
The busy Infant department, encompassing Year R, 1 and Year 2 classes, buzzes with purposeful activity throughout the school week. Pupils are taught by a class teacher with support from a teaching assistant, with specialist teaching for some subjects. Lessons take place through a combination of whole class learning and small group work, ensuring that all pupils are appropriately challenged and supported to achieve their very best. We focus on the varying needs of individual children.
Junior Classes
At St. Andrew’s, all pupils in the Junior classes are given the opportunity to be educated by our team of specialist teaching staff. As the children move up the school this increases so that by Year 6, children are used to this mentality and this helps to prepare them for their senior school timetables.
Clubs, Activities and Trips
Optional one-to-one music tuition is available on a range of instruments; piano, keyboard, guitar and voice. They believe that learning does not just take place within the classroom and a variety of trips to places of interest are organised for each year group throughout the year. From Year 3, pupils are offered opportunities to attend residential trips, where they can try a variety of outward-bound activities. They also receive visits to school from theatre groups and expert speakers. Parents representing a range of professions have also shared their expertise with the children.
