Newbold School is Independent Primary school in Bracknell Forest for kids aged 2 to 11 (Gender - Mixed )
Newbold School is a lovely little Christian primary school, where each of our children are known as individuals. Newbold’s family atmosphere makes it a very special place. Our staff are friendly and nurturing and our children are taught the importance of showing respect to every living creature and to their environment. We value outdoor learning and offer many Forest School activities. We are fortunate to be surrounded by a wealth of woods and gardens, to which we have free access. At Newbold, we approach our learning through a strong growth mindset. It is the effort that counts rather than a page full of easy gains. Engendering the desire to meet challenges ensures that each child is given the opportunity to be the best they can be and to be proud of each and every achievement because it has been well earned. If something is without challenge, regardless of the child’s ability, it is not enough. At Newbold, effort is key to success in all endeavours of life and we encourage growing confidence through valuing each child’s personal best. We believe that confident children feel more empowered to make good life choices.
CURRICULUM
They provide a learning environment that engages, challenges and supports our pupils with the aim of developing successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens. The Newbold curriculum is designed to provide the education that we believe is right for the pupils in our school and that will equip them to become successful life-long learners. Based on the NationalCurriculum, it has been customised to reflect the interests and backgrounds of our pupils, to provide a diverse range of exciting experiences and to support the aims and values of the school. The curriculum is balanced between core subjects and the wider curriculum and has the dual aims of promoting academic achievement and personal development. It promotes British Values and theSpiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development of our pupils. It is organised to support pupils’ growing depth of understanding.
Music at Newbold School
Music is an important aspect of Newbold School, particularly singing. The Early Years children sing together every day and use songs to help them learn - e.g. ‘The Tidy Up Song’, ‘On the Mat Song’, ‘We Have Kind Hands’ etc… There is a song basket containing song visuals, so children choose what songs they sing. Children use percussion instruments as part of their continuous provision in Early Years and have music and movement lessons every week. The year is split into 6 sections and each half term the focus is on a particular area to develop a range of skills. Such areas include: action songs, listening to instructions and moving accordingly, exploring beats and rhythms, developing an awareness of pitch and voice sounds and engaging in circle/ring games, etc..
PSHE at Newbold School
PSHE is of utmost importance at Newbold School and is integrated into our whole school ethos of Respect x 5, which promotes effective relationships between all members of the school and the wider community. It also underpins all our Newbold learning behaviours as well as being taught as a stand-alone subject. This reflects the understanding that PSHE supports pupils in acquiring the personal qualities and attributes that they will need to help them manage their own lives both now and in the future
