Facilities

Nursery
The Nursery School provides a seamless natural entry point to the Pre-Prep and Prep school. Based within premises on Waldegrave Park, the nursery is conveniently placed to benefit from our existing extensive educational facilities and offers an enviable outdoor learning space. The building was subject to complete refurbishment 5 years ago and is now appropriately adapted to provide spacious and stimulating playrooms offering direct outdoor access.

Pre-Prep
The Pre-Prep forms the foundation of pupils' primary education and we provide an innovative, welcoming and secure environment where children can develop their style of learning and explore the breadth of curriculum offered to them. We admit children on a first come first served basis, so parents wishing to register their children are advised to do so as soon as possible. There are no entrance requirements and the school caters for a range of abilities. Confidence is a key factor in a child's learning environment and we work with parents and children to create an individualised teaching environment bespoke to each child's needs.

Prep
Children automatically transition from the Pre-Prep into the Preparatory School in Year 3 and careful consideration is given to placing them in one of three mixed ability classes. In Year 3, pupils are based very much in their classroom with their class teacher but they are taught certain subjects like DT, music, art, ICT and games by a specialist teacher. As they move up through the school, they are taught more by subject specialists.Children will remain in these class groups until the end of Year 6, when the girls sit their examinations and move on to senior school. In the final two years of the school, the remaining boys are placed in small classes and follow a syllabus aligned towards Common Entrance.

Features

Things to note

Special Educational Needs or Disabilities
Parents of prospective pupils must notify the school of any special educational needs or disabilities in advance of registration and must discuss with the school what adjustments could be made to accommodate their child. The school may request a full report from a doctor or educational psychologist to help determine whether it can properly fulfil its legal and moral responsibilities to the child and its contractual duties to the parents. In particular, the school will do all it reasonably can to ensure that the child can, with reasonable adjustments, access the curriculum, whether in the classroom or through other means.

Children with English is an Additional Language (EAL)
The school may admit children for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL) if, on initial assessment, it deems them able, with appropriate support, to benefit from the mainstream curriculum. The school must feel confident that it will be able to educate and develop the prospective pupil to the best of their potential and in line with the general standards achieved by their peers, to ensure that there is every chance that they will have a complete, happy and successful school career and emerge as confident, well-educated and well-rounded children.
