Things to note

Open events are tailored for each of the different entry points and offer the opportunity to meet with relevant members of staff, as well as pupils, and to tour the school. For more information CLICK HERE.
  • There is a joint coach service between LEH and Hampton School. Approximately 50% of girls use the coach service to travel to and from school, although this percentage is slightly higher in the Senior School and lower in the Junior School. The school is also very well connected with local transport links. There are two bus routes that operate along the Hanworth Road, the R70 from the Richmond area and the 111 which runs from Kingston via Hanworth and Hounslow. In addition, the 285 operates along the Uxbridge Road and the R68 along Hampton Hill High Street. The nearest railway station is Hampton, which is connected to LEH by the 111 bus or is a 15-minute walk.

Extra Curricular

  • Sport: Sport is an important part of school life at LEH and all girls are encouraged to make a commitment to a physical activity that they enjoy, and can progress in. Through our curriculum PE lessons, and extra-curricular clubs, we aim to foster an understanding of the benefits of having a healthy and active lifestyle, whilst giving the girls the confidence to try new activities and remain active throughout their lives. There is plenty of scope for developing sporting skills in the Junior School, and activities include swimming, netball, rounders, gymnastics, dance, cricket, tennis, football and athletics. Pupils take part in our Sports Day, gymnastics and dance showcase, House netball and House swimming events, tennis and cricket tournaments.
  • Drama: Drama is an exciting and integral part of life at school. As well as having lots of fun in class and on stage, drama lessons, productions, enrichment and extra-curricular activities provide our pupils with the opportunity to improve their self-confidence, teamwork and communication skills. Pupils in the Junior School enjoy weekly drama lessons and our Trinity Speech and Drama lessons and Musical Theatre and Drama clubs are also very popular. Throughout the year there are numerous opportunities for our pupils to perform on stage and showcase their skills and talents including Family Assemblies and specialist workshops which bring Shakespeare and performance poetry to life.
  • Clubs and Societies: We offer a wide range of clubs and societies. Most take place during the long lunch break and, while they may vary from year to year, may include activities as varied as Scrabble, science, robotics, chess, debating, German, geography, classics, a variety of sports, Inclusion Club, Pride Club, Eco Squad and Amnesty International.
  • Other Activities: There is a flourishing Service Volunteers group which, with Hampton School, organises events for the elderly and for disabled young people; the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is available at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels; Young Enterprise groups operate in the sixth form and LEH School runs the local CCF contingent with students from LEH, Hampton School and Hampton High participating.
  • School Trips: The school is keen to extend the education we offer beyond the classroom, and there are numerous school trips during the course of the academic year, including some that are residential. All pupils in Year 7 take part in a Team Building residential within the first term, giving them a chance to mix and make friends outside of the classroom. Residential trips include an annual ski trip; Year 8 have the opportunity to go on a study trip to France, Germany or Spain during the summer term and there is a regular exchange to Konstanz for those studying German at GCSE level. During GCSE studies, the French Department offers an exchange programme to a school in Paris and Spanish pupils are offered a study trip to Salamanca. For A Level French students there is a Sixth Form study trip to Nice. There have been geography visits to Iceland and the Azores and classical trips to Italy and Greece. History of Art trips have been organised to Italy and the Sixth Form Politics students recently went to Washington DC. Sixth Form students may be able to participate in work experience in France and Germany. There are regular theatre and concert trips to London venues and the school makes good use of London museums and galleries to augment teaching.
  • House Events: The House system also provides many opportunities not only to showcase your talents and interests, but also to develop new skills, and work with students in different years throughout the school. We want every pupil to contribute positively to their House, not only through active participation in House events but also by supporting others in developing their interests, further developing our culture of mutual respect and support. It's not just about being competitive either; House lunches, House concerts and House fundraising events are also a valuable part of Senior School life.
  • Music: LEH has a fizzing Music Department with a myriad of orchestras, ensembles, choirs, jazz bands, chamber music and rock bands. Its top choir, The Holles Singers is a regular finalist in the Choir of the Year Competition and has toured Venice and New York. The weekly music rehearsals culminate in dazzling concerts throughout the year. The groups are designed to inspire musicians from absolute beginners right up to the post-diploma whizzes and produce uproariously brilliant performances. At lunchtimes, our numerous practice rooms in the purpose-built music department are full to bursting with instrumentalists and singers, keen to hone their performances for the next concert or simply blow off some steam. Our pianists can play on our Steinway Concert Grand and we use our state-of-the-art Recording Studio to record our musicians for posterity. From Bach to Shostakovich, from Orfeo to Wicked, there’s never a dull moment in the Music Department!

LEH offers Scholarships and Exhibitions for pupils hoping to enter the School at the ages of entry of 11+ and 16+.

There are no Scholarships awarded for entry into the Junior School. The number and size of awards in any particular year are at the discretion of the Head Mistress. A Scholarship or Exhibition is a recognition of exceptional ability and promise. It is possible to apply for a means-tested bursary alongside a scholarship award.

The bestowal of any award carries with it privilege and responsibility. Every award holder is expected to set an example to other pupils in their approach to life at school and their area of specialism in particular. Awards at 11+ and 16+ are reviewed annually. The review will consider the progress of award holders in their chosen field of expertise and whether the holder continues enthusiastically to fulfil the obligations associated with the award.
