Music
Music is an energetic, and irresistible force at NHP. From the Early Years and upwards we simply cannot stop singing! We have implemented an engaging, singing-based vocal curriculum consistent with the principle tools of the Kodaly Methodology and our aim is to develop a desire for life-long participation in musical activities.
Drama
Drama is at the very heart of the co-curricular life of NHP. Right from the Reception Nativity, NHP pupils are committed to making joyous, challenging and lively theatre which develops creativity and craft in a collaborative and generous environment.Highlights of the year include the Autumn Poetry and Public Speaking Competition, Class Assemblies and the Year 3 and Year 6 music theatre productions. Drama is where imaginative play and self-discipline come together to unlock children’s hidden talents developing confident, expressive, articulate and empathetic children. Above all, drama at NHP is FUN!
Art and Design Technology
Art, craft and design are important aspects of the children’s learning at NHP in order to hone skills of self-expression, imagination and to develop the mindful and kinesthetic benefits of making and doing.The school has two dedicated art rooms in the Lower and Upper School. From Year 4 the children take art and design in a bright, industrial, bespoke state of the art facility with a full design and technology function, sewing machines for textiles work and an in-house kiln for ceramics.
Sports
The NHP Sports Department recognises that keeping fit and active has a positive impact on the children’s learning and mental health. It promotes the old adage “a healthy body, a healthy mind”.A wide and varied sports curriculum provides the opportunity to develop and hone skills, to recognise individual talent and ability, to learn about team spirit, to be comfortable with competition, to win and lose gracefully and of course to have fun and keep fit.
School Clubs
The childrens’ particular passions and interests are enhanced and encouraged by a series of clubs that run pre and post school and at lunch-times. NHP also offers half term and holiday activity camps.
