Curriculum

Reading is promoted and supported throughout the school with designated Junior and Senior Libraries and a focus on ‘Reading for Pleasure’. Speaking and listening skills are also developed and in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 all pupils take English Speaking Board exams.
Sport
With a Games session every afternoon and extensive grounds and facilities, Sport plays an important role in life at Packwood. The ethos centres on participation for all pupils as well as a focus on excellence at the elite level.Pupils take part in our core sports programme which includes football, rugby, hockey, netball, lacrosse and cricket, as well as cross country, tennis and athletics. All pupils are fully involved in the regular programme of school fixtures as well as internal Sixes (House) Competitions.
Creative and Performing Arts
The Creative and Performing Arts play a central role in life at Packwood, with weekly lessons for all pupils as well as a wealth of options for individuals to further develop their talents through activities and additional sessions. The longer lunchtimes are used both for enrichment as well as for pupils to prepare for scholarships to senior schools, whether practising in the Orchestra or working on their Art Portfolio.
Drama
All Packwood pupils actively participate in drama. The performing arts provide the pupils with an avenue for developing their imagination and creativity, whilst building their confidence through performance on stage.Children in Years 3-5 perform in the series of Open Assemblies; smaller plays performed to parents and pupils. Year 6 take the leading roles in the Junior production, ably supported by the Junior pupils, whilst year 7-8 pupils perform in the Senior Production. Year 7 pupils also take part in the ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ day, in which they rehearse and perform a play in a day, whilst senior pupils enjoy the Sixes Drama Competition.

Packwood welcomes applications from pupils aged 4 to 13. Places are available all year round for day and boarding pupils from a variety of social, economic and cultural backgrounds.
