Rushcliffe Spencer Academy is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)

Rushcliffe is a successful, vibrant and friendly place for pupils and staff alike. They have a simple core purpose – ‘everyone will be given the chance to shine brightly’ – and this underpins everything they do. They seek out any opportunity to showcase the talents and abilities of the pupils in order that they can be happy, healthy and successful now and in the future. Rushcliffe has been recognised as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted. The school was accredited as a World Class School in 2015 and re-accredited again in 2018 and 2021. However, they are committed to continual improvement and want to ensure that provision for the current pupils is the best it possibly can be. They are proud to serve the local community. They are committed to excellence in the education they provide but also in the care and support they give to pupils and their families.

Curriculum
The purpose of the curriculum is to enable every pupil to shine brightly; whatever a pupil’s ability, background, interests or aspirations, the Rushcliffe curriculum should allow them to develop the knowledge that enables them to be happy and successful at school and in their lives beyond. The needs of the pupils are central to curriculum decisions and the curriculum at Rushcliffe will always be inclusive and have the development of the whole child at its heart. They want to ensure that pupils develop as well-rounded, work-ready young people who are equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be good citizens and make positive contributions to a diverse and ever-changing global community.

Learning Support (SEND)
Rushcliffe is a highly inclusive setting where all pupils are given the chance to shine brightly. The Learning Support Faculty is committed to supporting every child as an individual, whatever their needs. They support every pupil in the process of reaching their academic and social potential, making use of individualised curriculum pathways and personalised support. The Learning Support Faculty is situated upstairs in A Block.

Things to note

Extra-Curricular
Activities outside of timetabled lessons are a hugely important part of life at Rushcliffe and the core purpose of giving everyone the chance to shine brightly.  Not only do they add to the enjoyment of school but they enable pupils to exploit existing knowledge, skills and talents as well supporting them to develop new ones.

Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh programmes are very popular. We offer Bronze in year 9, Silver in year 10 and Gold in year 12. The programmes are arranged and led by our DofE Manager Dominic Orchard and Assistant DofE Manager Kirsty Baugh.
