Things to note

  • Creativity in Art can come in all forms. It is not limited to the skill to draw and paint, it is the opportunity to express yourself through sculpture, graphics, textiles and photography. 
  • Drama at Rye is very much a whole school activity. All pupils will not only be able to take part in whole school productions, year group and house performances, they will take the lead in showcasing this art to fellow pupils, families and the wider community. 
  • Performing arts centre houses the music department and all pupils attend lessons in one of the dedicated music classrooms. 
  • Oxford is very competitive for school sports and Rye is at the heart of this competition. PE department regularly take trips to other schools in Oxford and neighbouring counties to attend fixtures.

Admission Details

Nursery Admissions: To start the application process, please call to make arrangements for an initial visit. Your child will then be invited for a short taster session. On completion of a successful visit, an offer of a place will be made.

Prep School AdmissionsOnce you have completed an initial visit, your child will be invited for a taster day in the Prep School – a full school day alongside children from the same year group. During the day they will be asked to complete numeracy and literacy assessments. If you are applying for a boarding place (Year 5 and above), we will invite your daughter to complete their visit with an overnight stay. Places will be offered to your child following a successful day visit, interview with staff, and satisfactory reports and references from any current school.

Senior Admissions: 

Dates for 11+ (Entry to Year 7 September 2022)-

  • One hour entrance examination papers in Mathematics and English
  • Activities giving a taste of Year 7
  • Meeting with the Head and members of staff

12+ and 14+ applicants are invited to take an entrance examination alongside an interview with the Head or a senior member of staff. Taster days are encouraged and the day will be spent with the applicant’s current year. Girls transitioning from Prep to Senior do not need to take entrance examinations other than scholarship assessments and interviews. International applicants to the Senior School will be required to take entrance examinations either at their current school, recognised agency, or other approved establishment. If applying for the GCSE programme (Years 10 and 11), they would expect applicants to be working towards or having passed the Cambridge First Certificate or have IELTS 5/6.

Sixth Form Admissions: Applicants to Sixth Form are expected to achieve grade 5 or above in a minimum of five GCSE (or equivalent) subjects, with grade 6/7 or above in any subject to be continued at A-Level. Conditional places are offered on the evidence of the interview, plus reports and references from the applicants’ current school. International applicants to the Sixth Form will be required to take entrance examinations either at their current school, recognised agency, or other approved establishment. A good level of English is required to access the A-Level programme.
