Prep
School is a huge part of a child’s life and parents must have the unwavering belief that their children are motivated and protected.   We embrace this sentiment and believe that a happy child will flourish and reach their potential. The close-knit community and small class sizes ensure that every child is known and understood by all. The magnificent grounds encourage the dedicated teachers to extend the learning beyond the constraints of the classroom - incorporating opportunities to utilise the outdoors as a vehicle to promote a desire and passion for learning. We understand that all children learn in different ways and they allow the pupils to discover themselves in a safe and supportive environment with children being celebrated and valued as important members of our community. The children are challenged intellectually, creatively and physically with manners and kindness being central to all that we do.

Senior
As children progress through to our Senior school, they develop the skills and confidence required to exceed in all areas of their lives. They are dedicated to providing a unique family environment where we can discover and develop the talents and personalities of each child and where young people are nurtured and grow into self-assured, happy adults who aspire to the highest levels of personal achievement. If you were to ask current parents why they chose Sherrardswood, they would tell you that the children here are happy, confident and inquisitive, yet excited and enthused by the challenges before them. They might add that Sherrardswood succeeds in combining academic excellence with a wealth of extracurricular opportunities, all underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each one of our students.

Sixth Form
The focus of our Sixth Form is to educate and nurture young, aspiring academics in their chosen fields of interest. Viewed as school leaders by the younger generations, being a Sixth Form student is a responsibility and a privilege. The atmosphere of our Sixth Form is very special. Students who join from other schools are made to feel very welcome and quickly settle in. There is a designated Sixth Form area where students can get to know one another and work individually or together in a supportive and purposeful, yet social environment.Sherrardswood Sixth Form students go on to study at many of the top universities. They believe that a good education should not only lead to excellent exam results. How the students interact with their community and develop as valuable members of society, with positive principles and values and an enthusiasm for all that life can offer, is of equal importance to them.

Features

Things to note

Extracurricular
The wide range of extracurricular activities provide our pupils with a rich, all-round education. In addition to our after-school clubs, children are encouraged to participate in a series of school trips. Some are directly related to the curriculum, and others are designed to promote social awareness, or to enhance physical skills, self-reliance and team-working as well as building upon their knowledge of the world. The common factor is that they all make an essential contribution to pupils’ development and education. The extensive range of clubs gives pupils the opportunity to participate in various activities including karate, chess, gymnastics, art, rugby, drama, choir and design and technology.

Art
When pupils begin their educational journeys with us, we recognise the importance of allowing them to express themselves creatively as part of their ongoing development. From pupils in Nursery to our budding Year 6 artists, everyone benefits from specialist teaching.Visitors always comment on the impressive artwork on display from the talented pupils as well as the clear development in art as pupils progress through Prep, and this is thanks to a carefully planned creative curriculum.

Sports
Throughout their time at Sherrardswood, we promote positive attitudes towards physical activity, laying the foundations for all students to be able to follow active and healthy lifestyles in the wider community. The PE and games programme is designed to be fully inclusive. They want to provide opportunities for participation by students of all levels of age and ability, involving either competition within the school or with other schools. Students are offered a wide range of sports during PE and games lessons, with more choice being available as students progress through the school.
