Things to note

  • They encourage all pupils, whatever their ability, to participate in the wide range of sports.The PE curriculum includes football, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, netball, tag rugby, cricket, rounders and swimming. 
  • Within school they run a full programme of extra-curricular clubs and practices for pupils to explore. From football to chess, Cineclub to orchestra, trampolining to languages, Robotics Club to Jazz Band, debating and curriculum clinics there is plenty for pupils to do at lunchtime as well as before and after school.
  • The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award scheme is run by the school and all pupils in Year 10 are encouraged to participate.
  • The equestrian team welcomes everyone who has a horse or pony, and some means of getting it to competitions. Riders compete at all levels and abilities in a league run jointly by six local schools and a second run by the National Schools Equestrian Association.

Admission Details

Nursery Admissions: A typical Sandleford admissions journey will follow these steps:

Junior School Admissions: Admission to Year 1 and Year 2 is by assessment and a satisfactory progress report from your child's current school.  Potential candidates attend a taster day with their year group, where they will be asked to complete age appropriate tasks in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the classroom. Admission to the Junior School in Year 3 upwards is by selection through assessment and a satisfactory progress report from your child's current school.  Potential candidates also attend a taster day with their year group. Children are assessed in English and Maths before joining their year group in lessons and activities to experience a typical school day. Children are teamed up with a buddy and fully engage with Junior School life. Pupils who apply for entry to Year 6 will also be assessed on their ability to pass the 11+ entrance examinations to the Senior School.

Senior School Admissions:

  • Year 7: Candidates will sit papers in English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. A short and informal interview with the Principal and Vice-Principal also forms part of the assessment process.
  • Year 9: Candidates will sit papers in papers in English, Mathematics and Science.  A short and informal interview with the Principal and Vice-Principal also forms part of the assessment process. 

Sixth Form Admissions: Places are offered to students based on predicted GCSE grades, an interview with the Principal and Head of Sixth Form as well as a confidential report from a candidate's current school.
