St Gregory's Catholic Science College

Donnington Rd, Harrow HA3 0NB, United Kingdom
11-18 Years

Description

St Gregory's Catholic Science College is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)

At St Gregory’s we expect high standards of conduct from all members of our school community and place considerable emphasis on academic excellence.  They take great care to make sure that students build on their prior attainment when they join them in year 7 and ensure that this process continues as they progress through the school into the Sixth From (so that our girls and boys work to their full ability).  Moreover, we have an experienced, well-qualified, committed and talented teaching staff that allows us to be confident that they can fulfil the promises to the parents; and they are well-resourced in terms of books, equipment, ICT resources, our library and sports facilities. There is also an enhanced provision for the Gifted and Talented and an extensive Extra-Curricular programme.  In short, we are I believe, a thriving institution and a real Catholic community with over 1000 girls and boys, more than 100 staff and a flourishing Sixth Form.

Curriculum
The school curriculum is broad and balanced and develops pupils’ knowledge, understanding, skills and talents in order that they not only become successful learners but are fully prepared for their future lives. Departments follow the full national curriculum for all students including those with disabilities or special educational needs. Subject content is differentiated where necessary to ensure that all students are able to access the full curriculum. School trips and extra-curricular activities are organised to increase students’ cultural capital; all of these experiences are open to all students including those with disabilities and special educational needs.

Things to note

Special Needs
They firmly believe that all children have the ability to learn and should be equally valued whether they have special educational needs or disability or not. Inclusion is most likely to be achieved when their diversity is recognised and regarded positively. All staff at St Gregory’s have a responsibility for inclusion. All children and their parents/carers are entitled to be treated with respect and have their views taken into account. The aim of Inclusion at St Gregory’s is to consider the structure, teaching approaches, pupil grouping and use of support so that they respond to the needs of all pupils.  Special educational provision at St Gregory’s is underpinned by Quality First teaching.
