SJB is part of the Xavier Catholic Education Trust. They are a group of fourteen schools in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton who have come together to work collaboratively for the benefit of all the children we serve. The Trust’s aim is to provide a caring and supportive environment within which all children receive the best possible education. Achievement is at the forefront of everything we do at SJB and it would be fair to say it is “cool” to achieve. Our staff are vibrant, enthusiastic and passionate about ensuring our students get the very best deal.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 study all of the following subjects:
English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, Art, Computer Science, Drama, Design Technology, Food, Geography, History, Music, Physical Education, PSHE, and a Modern Foreign Language: French, Italian or Spanish (in Year 7 they study a carousel of all three before choosing which one to continue into Year 8).
Sixth Form
Life as a Sixth Form student at SJB is exciting, challenging and enjoyable. Every student succeeds and leaves us with excellent qualifications and experiences which will last a life-time. But, whilst they pride ourselves on achieving outstanding results we also believe in developing outstanding individuals. Students also succeed in many other areas of school life, playing an active part in the school house system, performing on stage, taking part in sports events, voluntary service, retreats, foreign exchanges and trips, Wednesday afternoon enrichment activities and the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. The Sixth Form has its own unique identity but remains an integral part of the SJB community.
Extra Curricular
Here at SJB, we don’t just value what happens inside the classroom, but also what happens out of it. We believe that a well-balanced, broad education, and certainly one that gets the best out of the children, should combine curricular and extracurricular activities. The activities we run, as well as day trips, residential and international trips and reflection days help to shape our students and give them experiences that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Running activities is also a fantastic way for students to discover their hidden talents and build long-lasting relationships with their peers.
