Granham Hill, Marlborough SN8 4AX, United Kingdom
11-18 Years

Description

St John's Marlborough is a State Secondary School for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)

Each student is treated with the virtues of respect and dignity and they provide a rich environment where each student can thrive and develop. They feel strongly that they have a duty to prepare them for a world of challenge so the qualities of resilience and independence are instilled at the earliest possible stages. Whatever their talents and strengths, they will help them build on them or discover new ones whilst celebrating the divergent characteristics of those around them. The reputation as a caring Academy which sets very high academic standards in a disciplined environment is one they are proud of and seek to build on constantly. Truly great schools do what they do really well and the quality of the education they offer the students is paramount to what they are about here. Alongside the strong teaching and learning, they place a high emphasis on respect for others, a responsible attitude towards the community, care for the environment and a pride in the appearance of the students. The wellbeing of our students underpins their academic curriculum because they want every student to gain the skills to lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.

Curriculum
St John’s has developed a curriculum that is challenging, knowledge based and enables students to achieve excellence. They focus on nurturing independent students by equipping them with the life skills necessary to succeed. Literacy, oracy, numeracy, resilience and organisational skills are vital in preparing students for the wider world of work and further study. St John’s students will develop a passion for learning through the aspirational, differentiated curriculum and through the wide range of enrichment opportunities they offer.  St John’s is a safe environment where they celebrate diversity and promote equality in all that they do.

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
Since September 2014, all schools and academies are required to publish information about their Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision. The Special Educational Needs & Disability Policy has been created in line with the National SEND Code of Practice: 0-25 years as well as with all other Excalibur Academies Trust policies.

Features

Things to note

After School Clubs
At St John’s they recognise the importance of interest and hobbies outside of the classroom and they encourage all students to take part in clubs for at least two hours a week – a wide range of activities such as sport, arts, music, hobbies, volunteering, mentoring, homework clubs, and booster sessions are on offer.  Research has proven that young people who do take part in extra curricular activities have increased confidence, higher self-esteem, and greater social skills – attributes they are keen to nurture to ensure the students succeed in life.

Trips and Visits
The St John’s curriculum is enhanced by a variety of school trips, including many visits to theatres, museums, lectures, to name a few. In addition, a full range of other activities are on offer. In years past we have visited China, Gambia, Italy, Greece, France, Germany, Spain, and the USA.
