The vision is to develop an excellent school where the Christian values of faith, hope and love are evident in everything they do. Through nurturing the children, both academically and spiritually, they aim to provide them with secure foundations for life, so that they leave St Luke’s with an excellent all round education and a love of learning.

Facilities

Curriculum
They offer a curriculum which is broad and balanced and builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children, whatever their starting points, as they progress through the school. Our curriculum is responsive to individual needs, based on, but not limited by, the National Curriculum. The curriculum has been designed to encompass knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live, and also the events that have shaped it in the past to make it what it is today. The topics have been designed to complement and build on one another with clear progression and links so that in subsequent year groups, they will be able to explore concepts more deeply and apply their knowledge in different contexts.

Early Years Foundation Stage
Children in Reception Class follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This learning challenges children and encourages them to develop into independent, motivated learners and thinkers; full of curiosity about the world around them within a fun, happy and secure environment.

Key Stage 1 and 2
St Luke’s CE School follows a two-year curriculum cycle based upon the subjects within the National Curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6. The curriculum design is based firmly on the principles of excellent learning matched to the specific needs of the children in the school. Each class is taught through an integrated, thematic approach which enables them to provide meaningful and cross-curricular learning experiences for the children, and enable them to make connections with the world around them.

Features

Things to note

Relationships and Sex Education
At St Luke’s CE School, they aim to prepare the children to grow up as responsible, capable and informed adults. The programme of personal, social, health and citizenship education (PHSE) includes relationship and sex education. Through a programme of focused teaching in Year 5, they prepare children for the changes that take place during puberty and in Year 6, the children learn about human reproduction in a forum where questions about sexuality and reproduction can be asked and answered simply, honestly and without judgement.

Wider Opportunities
At St Luke’s they actively encourage our teachers to plan trips that bring the work the children do in class to life. Recently, we have visited the British Museum, HMS Belfast, St Paul’s Cathedral, Brent Sikh Centre and Westminster Abbey. They travel by tube, train, bus or on occasion, coach and our teachers do a pre-visit risk assessment of both the journey and the destination.By signing the Home School Agreement, you give your permission to allow your children to attend local visits not involving public transport. For the trips that involve public or private transportation, you will be sent full details of the trip as well as a permission slip to be signed and returned to the school.

Remote Learning
In the case of school or bubble closure, your child will be able to meet their classmates and teachers each day in live sessions which will give them the opportunity for face-to-face teaching, as well as providing a forum for questions and feedback arising from their learning.  Your child’s work for the day will be posted as assignments on the classwork page and should be submitted by 3:30pm each day.The Senior Leadership Team will monitor the remote learning on a weekly basis, and will respond as appropriate to any technical problems or pastoral issues arising for pupils or staff.
