The Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is currently a programme of learning that the government imposes, but crucially they are not constrained by it and they are able to interpret it using the professional judgment.The Lower Kindergarten (Nursery) and Kindergarten (Reception) classes meet all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) but work to higher levels of attainment than are expected nationally. Teaching is provided by the graduate-led and highly experienced EYFS team with specialist support provided for music, sport and ICT.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten is our reception class for children aged 4-5 -EYFS. In Kindergarten they cover all the seven areas of learning identified by the EYFS and ensure that the key aspects of numeracy, literacy and developing an enquiring mind receive the attention they need if the children are to make early and sustained progress.They ensure that all the pupils, including those in the early years, follow a curriculum that is broad and challenging. The children are encouraged to be polymaths and through music, art, sport, drama and technology Froebelian pupils are given an enriched education with a clear academic focus.

Remove
Remove is the Year 2 Class for children aged 6-7 – Key Stage 1. To ensure that every pupil receives sufficient individual attention, they have a full time form teacher and a full time teaching assistant.In literacy areas covered in Transition are extended including reading, writing and understanding of; stories, instructions, poetry and author studies, as well as on-going handwriting, joining up, comprehension, spellings and grammar skills.Numeracy is focussed on developing skills with number, place value, addition and subtraction as well as division and multiplication. Topics also include money, length, time, shape, fractions, data handling, mass, capacity, right angles and graphs. They will also be focussing on using and applying mathematical skills, problem solving and developing mental maths strategies.

Drama
Drama specialist, Mrs Taylor Parker runs a highly popular Drama Club on Friday afternoons – helping children gain confidence and acting ability. Drama Club is so popular it is run in two sessions. At the end of each year the School puts on an end of year performance at Yeadon Town Hall as a finale to Speech Night. These are always stunning shows with West End production values. Previous performances have included; Peter Pan, Aladdin, The Peace Child, Mary Poppins, Aristocats, Alice in Wonderland, A Night at the Musicals.

Sport
Sport is an important and integral part of the curriculum and life at Froebelian. As one of the leading academic independent prep schools in the North, they know that  many co-educational sporting opportunities and achievements help complement our excellent academic success.

Art
They have a brand new dedicated Art Room this year and all pupils follow a progressive syllabus which includes drawing, painting, modelling, using clay and a variety of different materials.Each year the whole school undertakes a week long art project during which local artists and parents help the children to create artworks which are then exhibited throughout the community.

Music
Music is a unique way of communicating that can inspire and motivate children. At Froebelian they make music an enjoyable learning experience and encourage all children to participate in a variety of musical experiences.In the new Music Suite, they aim to encourage children to sing and play instruments with enthusiasm from an early age, encourage them to work individually, co-operate with others and to develop confidence in all musical activities.
