Horsforth School is State Secondary school for kids aged 11 to 18 (Gender - Mixed)
At Horsforth School we firmly believe in “Opportunity and achievement for all.” They aim for all students to achieve excellent outcomes and this is not simply exam results but where students get to as a result of their experience at Horsforth School. They aim to ensure they are prepared for their future steps in education, employment and training and beyond. They want all students to enjoy their learning and achieve their own personal success, now and in the future. At Horsforth they have a clear responsibility to prepare students for the rest of their lives.
Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9)
In Year 7 students have lessons in English, maths, science, history, geography, languages (French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese), art, design and technology, PE, computing, RE, music, drama and life skills. In Year 8 this continues, but they give the students the opportunity to specialise in one language if they wish to, and in Year 9 students begin to consider which subjects they might want to study through to Year 11.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)
They are proud of the wide range of subject choices that we offer at Key Stage 4, and are consistently looking to expand the offer according to student need. This year, they are delighted that they have been able to offer Engineering for the first time.

All students have the right to realise their potential intellectually, socially and physically, to enjoy learning, stay safe and make a positive contribution. The aim is for every child to achieve as highly as they possibly can. To this end, they display a variety of support strategies both within the mainstream classroom and in a small group or individual basis. They aim to ensure a successful transition to the next step after Horsforth School, either in further education, training or employment and we offer support for our students with additional needs in a variety of ways. They work hard to promote the welfare and interests of the students with special needs, supporting their families and ensuring we do our best to provide accessibility in terms of curriculum provision, human and physical resources including making reasonable adjustments where necessary.
