Thomas's Clapham is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 4 to 13 (Gender - 4 to 13 )
It is the aim that every child in our care aspires to fulfil his or her potential. They would like every pupil to become the best that he or she can be. As our pupils develop a growing sense of self, we seek to nurture in them a strong set of values, with kindness at the core, which will encourage them to take up positions of responsibility and leadership, to give back to their communities and to make a positive contribution to the world. They aim to provide an outstanding education for young people aged 2 to 16 that is forward-thinking and outward-looking, with values at its heart. They believe in kindness at the core. They are Christian schools, open to families of all faiths and none. They aim to instil a strong set of values, first by example and also through exceptional pastoral care. They believe that individual wellbeing is of primary importance, balanced by an equal commitment to service leadership and to the wider community.
Thomas’s operates as a group of schools with a similar ethos and values. However in some areas, it is appropriate for each school to adopt discrete procedures, acknowledging the individual identity of each school and its specific personnel and systems. These supplementary procedures can be found by clicking the name of the relevant school under the contents list of this Policy. This Policy should be read in conjunction with Thomas’s Assessment, Recording and Reporting Policy, EAL Policy, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, EYFS Policy, Most Able Policy, Outdoors Policy, PSHE Policy, RSE Policy, SEND Policy, SMSC Policy, Wellbeing Polic
Extra-curricular
Thomas’s children enjoy an unusually rich school day, with a generous allocation of time and specialist staff in the Arts and Sports. However, they also aim to extend, challenge and entertain beyond the regular curriculum.
Clubs
They offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs through which pupils can discover new passions and explore their physical, creative, social, global, moral and cultural interests with other enthusiasts. These offer an ideal way for children to find new friends outside their year groups, while enabling them to learn discipline, leadership and teamwork.
Selection Criteria: Selective
Children can be registered from birth for a place starting in Lower Kindergarten in September (Michaelmas Term) or January (Lent Term) once they are two and a half years old. Admission to the Kindergarten is non-selective. Places are offered in order of registration, whilst ensuring an even spread of birth dates, an even number of boys and girls and our sibling priority policy. Places are offered approximately one year before the child is due to start.
