Our aim is to ensure that children are happy, successful and motivated learners. Our purpose is to provide educational excellence coupled with high expectation so that all can reach their potential. We pride ourselves on the happy, safe and caring learning atmosphere so that boys and girls can really enjoy school. We offer our pupils a wide range of activities and opportunities designed to promote excellence, success, confidence and self-esteem; these include music, drama, sports and languages.
Prep School
The junior section of the school provides a stimulating educational experience for all of our boys and girls as they progress from Year 3 to Year 6. The children are very much at the centre of all we do here, and the Essendene Lodge experience is a team effort, with the staff, children and parents all working together to provide a stimulating education which is as broad as it is deep and wide. The educational philosophy is simple and successful; if your child is happy, supported and cared for in their educational lives, they will want to work hard and to get involved in a wide range of stimulating extra-curricular activities and contribute more and more to the school community.
Pre-Prep
Throughout the Early Years Unit we follow the Early Years Development Matters and Curriculum, building a profile of each child individually. The Early Years Curriculum is broken down in to seven areasCommunication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive art and design.
Sport
Sport and physical activity are an important part of school life. At Essendene Lodge School pupils take part in separate P.E. and games lessons every week. From an early age children are encouraged to develop co-ordination, balance and a variety of skills using small and large equipment in gymnastics. From Year 1 children begin learning skills in Javelin, Shot Put and Long Jump which is developed through to Year 6.
Drama
Children like to move and interact with others and in Drama at Essendene Lodge, they are asked to do exactly this. Rather than sitting still, they are encouraged to move, speak and react to one another. Children respond positively to the imaginative and multi-sensory learning offered through Drama. This in turn helps them develop such skills as creativity, enquiry, communication, empathy, self confidence, cooperation, leadership and negotiation.
