Description

Warminster School is a boarding and day school for girls and boys aged 2 to 18. 

Facilities

  • ​​​​​​Extensive playing fields provide five rugby pitches, six football pitches and six rounders pitches as well as a grass cricket square. An all weather Astro surface provides hockey throughout the autumn and spring terms whilst the hard courts allow for netball and all year round tennis. There is also an artificial cricket pitch and a 400m grass athletics track at Cold Harbour playing fields. For the summer months they have an outdoor swimming pool.
  • They have a computer suite, two art studios, an art gallery, photography suite and a DT workshop equipped with high quality craft and design facilities.
  • The Wessex Science Centre contains beautifully designed, state-of-the-art, fully networked and excellently resourced laboratories. These laboratories have been individually designed to increase versatility and provide excellent and comfortable environments in which to learn and instruct.
  • The Thomas Arnold Hall is the prime venue for assemblies, concerts, lectures and dinners. Boniface Hall and Boniface Recital Room are used for smaller-scale events, performance workshops and lunch time concerts.
  • The Drama Department also has two studio spaces both equipped with lighting and sound.

Music and Drama are cornerstones of life at Warminster Prep the school stages three musicals per year across all year groups. They currently have four choirs, a wind band and string group; as well as providing many opportunities for pupils to play and perform before an audience in mini presentations, concerts and celebration assemblies. Speech and Drama lessons are very popular amongst our pupils. Speech and Drama lessons are available to all pupils in the Prep and Senior School.

Admission Details

Years 7, 8, 9 and 10: At Warminster, they use cognitive testing. This online assessment is 2 hours long and covers vocab, non-verbal reasoning and maths. In addition, applicants will meet with the Headmaster for an informal discussion, and their current school will be asked to provide a reference and academic report.

Lower 6th: The School offers Sixth Formers the chance to choose between studying the International Baccalaureate Diploma, IBCP or following a traditional A Level programme. Applications for entry into the Sixth Form are accepted throughout the year. An offer of a place in the Sixth Form will usually be conditional on the candidate achieving at least five GCSE passes (grade 5), with a minimum grade 6 in the subjects the pupil wishes to study. Candidates will be expected to meet with either the Headmaster or the Head of Sixth Form for an informal interview.
