Rice Lane City Farm

Description

Rice Lane City Farm, established over 40 years ago on the site of the old Walton cemetery, spans 24 acres of fields and woodland. Visitors can enjoy a variety of friendly farmyard animals, including UK native and rare breeds such as Ryeland sheep and Berkshire pigs. The woodland walk offers a chance to see and hear local wildlife, with wide paths accessible for wheelchairs and buggies, though some paths may be muddy in bad weather. The farm is located at the end of Rawcliffe Road, Walton L9 1AW, and is free to visit, with a donations box on site to help keep it open year-round.

Popular residents include Pumpkin, Lux and Nox, Ness, a donkey who loves playing with the sheep; Ping, an Indian crested runner duck with a pompom on his head; and the mixed flock of Ryeland sheep, which includes 8 ewes and a ram, with lambs expected in April.
