Visitors can explore the heritage wildlife garden featuring vegetable beds, fruit trees, climbing roses and a wooded area filled with seasonal plants. There’s also a unique natural play area where children can enjoy mud play, tunnels, sand pits and bug hunting in a safe outdoor environment. Additional highlights include a gift shop with bird feeders and local items, picnic spots and accessible walking paths throughout the garden. 

Entry to the gardens and visitor centre is free, while the Natural Play Area costs £3.50 per child and organised play sessions with a leader are £6.50 per child.

What to see

  • Natural Play Area: Our fantastic Natural Play Area is a unique outdoor play area within the gardens of our visitor centre, With lots to explore children can get muddy and discover the joys of outdoor wild play in a completely safe environment. Make the muddiest mud pie, crawl through creepy tunnels play in the sand pit, and go on a bug hunt. 
  • Our Heritage Wildlife Garden: Fully accessible paths allow you to discover our small but diverse wildlife garden. The structure of the garden is formal, but in summer you will find plants spilling over the edges, running riot up woven arches, breaking and softening the straight lines of the flower beds. Once part of the Abbey the site is full of history, it is the perfect place to escape all year round.

  • We are situated on Abbey Foregate Pay & Display car park.
  • Pay and Display parking at Abbey Foregate car park, or for short term parking, we have space for 3 cars outside our main entrance.
