Diversity in the Curriculum
At St Stephen’s, we are committed to delivering an integrated diverse curriculum across all areas of learning and experience. The aim is to make certain that children of all backgrounds are able to see themselves and their families represented in every aspect of their education. They hold regular meetings with parents to discuss changes and improvements that have been made in this area and to take suggestions for future development. We have a dedicated parent diversity group that works alongside the teaching body to ensure representation reflective of our school and local community.

Features

Things to note

Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
St Stephen’s takes pride in the fact that it is an inclusive school. The mission statement is to provide ‘outstanding education in a caring community with God at the centre which celebrates the diversity of the local area’. Just as God values every unique individual equally so the school aims to extend its provision and care to all children who attend St Stephen’s whatever their individual needs may be.

Play Time
At St Stephen’s School, they believe that play is at the very heart of the development of child-initiated learning and that they have a responsibility to ensure that everyone has sufficient time and space to explore and participate in a range of play opportunities as part of their education and in pursuit of making them well-rounded individuals. We know, both from our own experience and the most recent research, that play contributes hugely to children’s physical and emotional health, well-being, approach to learning and, of course, the enjoyment of school. To this end, they provide conditions that encourage and support our children’s ability to play and ensures children get at least 30 minutes of activity a day.

Club House
They are delighted to offer a wide range of exciting clubs to all the children of St Stephens, Martial Arts, Drama, Football and Tennis to name a few. The clubs are all very well attended and the children fully enjoy their club experience whether doing Football club or Ballet. The club Tutors are all qualified and DBS checked.

Music Tuition
Pelican Music is a leading provider of high quality music tuition for young people at all stages of their musical development. They run instrumental lessons, orchestras, choirs, masterclasses, study days, after school clubs and a Saturday School all lead by professional musicians who are passionate about their instrument and music education. The teaching staff all have a conservatoire training and regularly perform themselves.
