Description

Thomas Jones Primary School Primary School is a Primary State School for kids aged 3 to 11 (Gender - co educational )

Exceptionally gentle and welcoming, younger pupils know Year 6 well and vice versa. All pupils are made to feel special. In this environment, positive, authentic relationships develop, which in turn support and nurture the well-being of each individual. Nursery and Reception are by far our most important cohorts, simply because this is where everything begins. Attending all assemblies, attired immaculately in the same garb as their older peers, they contribute much and are celebrated at every opportunity. Early Years practice is exceptional.Thomas Jones’ pupils are robust, assertive and articulate. They instil in them an uncompromising set of values. Empathy is a key element. Encouraged to be tenacious, emphasis is placed on beautiful cursive handwriting and the quality of writing per se is second to none, especially in Year 6.

Facilities

Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years (EYFS) is a stage of development from birth to the end of Reception. Children do best when parents/carers and teachers work together in partnership. The staff in Nursery and Reception work with every family to ensure that each child achieves their full potential. The EYFS is based on four principles: The Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.Positive Relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of secure and loving parents/carers and/or key person. Enabling Environments - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

Nursery
At Thomas Jones, we strongly believe that the foundations for a child’s future success begin in the Nursery. In line with our school aims and values, they promote an inclusive and warm environment, in which all children are ably supported to develop as young learners. The Nursery setting is small and intimate, which lends itself well to the development of strong, positive, relationships between pupils, family and staff members. This in turn brings real benefits for our pupils, with children feeling as if they are part of one ‘large school family’.

Special Educational Needs
Thomas Jones is committed to serving the needs of all pupils. The school is genuinely inclusive and offers the highest quality provision to all. We feel that it is beneficial to the school community as a whole that these children are educated at Thomas Jones. Children grow up understanding that the things that they have in common with each other far outweigh any differences.Currently, there are a further 30 children receiving SEND support bringing our total to 42 children. Parents know their child best and they are encouraged to work in partnership with the school to ensure that the desired outcomes for their child are achieved. We endeavour to afford parents as much information and support as possible to enable them to participate in this process from a position of knowledge and confidence. School Support Plans are written and reviewed by parents and class teachers at least three times a year.
