Facilities

EYFS
They offer a broad and balanced education that is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) of the National Curriculum. Since September 2008, it has been a legal requirement for all Early Years Providers to meet the requirements of the EYFS.The documents set the standards for the learning, development and care for children from birth to five. The Reception Year is the last year of the Foundation Stage. Each area of learning has a list of statutory Early Learning Goals. They provide the basis of planning throughout the EYFS. Children will be provided with experiences and opportunities to help them reach these goals. In the final term of the Reception Year, each child is assessed against the Early Learning Goals and the results of these assessments are submitted to the Local Authority in the form of the Early Years Profile, as well as being shared with parents and carers alongside the end of year report. This report is shared with the pupils’ Year 1 teachers to ensure a smooth transition into their next phase of education.

KS1 and KS2
In KS1 we aim to foster a love of learning.  the cross-curricular topics include all subjects in the National Curriculum, although science and maths are usually taught as discrete subjects.  At the heart of our topics are fantastic books that are carefully selected for their links to the topic as well as for the quality of the text and/or pictures.Phonics is taught every day and children are split into ability groups, depending on what phase of phonics they are working on.  Phonics is taught in a fun, interactive way using games and engaging resources following the 'Read, Write Inc.' programme.Children are monitored on their ability to recognise key words in their reading and are encouraged to start spelling these correctly in independent writing.Maths is taught daily through a variety of games, investigations and hands on activities. Children are encouraged to apply their number skills in many aspects of their learning e.g. science and ICT. They support the children in acquiring important basic number skills, such as counting, sequencing and number bonds.
